A/N: Hey FFnet! It's been a while since I've posted anything. I never really had the time or motivation to write a full-length fic, but since I just finished my O's, I have a few months of free time on my hands before school starts up again, giving me time to write. I'm going to be writing a lot up until April, but then school kicks in, and my writing schedule gets a bit iffy. I'll do my best, but no promises.

Mount Prism, just before the start of Naga's ritual

Lucina gave one last look behind her, to the people she was leaving behind.

The survivors of the fall of Ylisstol, the combined forces of half a dozen Valmese dynasts, what was left of the Valmese Imperial Army. The last bastion of human resistance on the continent.

While her most trusted soldiers were following her into the past, a sizeable portion of the Shepherds would have to be left behind, to protect the people and to ensure that she and her compatriots would have a home to return to once the job was completed. Her younger sister, Frey, was one of them, and she trusted Frey to hold the line in her absence.

Knowing this didn't make leaving them behind any easier.

Almost half of the Shepherd's children were staying. Ren'ji. Hannah. Ke'ri. Leo. Others she could not immediately think of. They were all forfeiting their chance to see their parents again, in the hopes that their world could be saved.

Lucina shook her head. All the more reason not to fail. Hopefully our actions will ensure that this future never comes to be.

Inside the temple, the priests completed their ritual and the portal to the past opened. She tied up her hair and put on her mask. It was time to leave. As Lucina walked through the portal, several pairs of eyes watched her go.

Some were misting, some were stoic, but all held a sharp glint that said, We will not fail.
