Chapter One: The Emerald
Moonlight shone down on the buildings of Jump City creating long shadows. The city was quiet at the later hours of the night, the citizens asleep in there cozy beds. Clouds blew over the moon as the light breeze slowly changed into heave gusts of wind. Complete darkness was cast over the city and the hidden thief made her move. Vaulting across the roofs she quickly made her way to the museum. Landing on the roof she slowed herself down looking around the other buildings. The darkness around her was softening, when she noticed this she moved quickly again. Cutting into the window she gritted her teeth as she lifted the window and set it down.
The wires were easy to set up after may years upon years of training. Lower her body down was the issue, she was small and thin, but had a hard time with the twists and turns she had to make while avoiding the traps set below. Taking this all by foot would of been her method of choice, but that was the hard way.
Slowly maneuvering down and around the lasers set that would send guards pouring into the room. Landing quietly and efficiently on the ground she stated at the emerald in the glass.
The glass reflected back at her, she saw a young child, scared and alone. She closed her eyes tightly and opened them to see herself. Pulling out the glass cutters she cut a hole into the glass.
Pulling out the emerald she gazed at it. The light from the hallway shined into the room hitting the emerald lighting up the back wall. Little green lights danced along the wall as she twirled it in her finger.
"Put it down Oak" a young males voice said angrily from behind her
"The lights look pretty in this light..." She turned and looked at Robin "don't you think so?" She smiled sadly and looked down at the emerald. Robin lowered the staff and looked at the young girl, but then raised the staff again.
"Put the emerald down"
"Still as heroic as ever"
"Oak, put it down"
She looked at him and smiled, then looked down at the emerald "it's not the one, looks like it, but it's not."
Oak tossed the emerald to Robin. Robin caught the emerald in his left hand just before it hit the ground. When Robin looked back up Oak was gone and the wires where dangling in the slight breeze coming from the cut in the window.
Robin walked into the room more and picked up the dried out and pressed Oak leaf laying on the ground.
"Robin, are you feeling the well?" Starfire asked from behind him.
Robin twirled the leaf in his fingers "yeah, I just ran into an old friend."
Robin looked at the emerald again before placing it into the museums curator, who thanked them before shuffling off.
Oak look down at the two titans from below and smiled. She pressed her index and middle finger to her ear.
"I made contact with the Titans"
"Good, come back to the base, we have much to discus, before our next move"
Oak moved her fingers from her ear silencing the comm and watched at Robin ran off with Starfire flying after him.
"See you soon boy wonder"
