"Moooony! Come on. Listen to me. You've been studying for hours now. I think it's time for a break."

"No, Sirius." Remus was getting a bit annoyed. NEWT's were coming up in two weeks and the Potions exam had been weighing on Remus' spirit since before he had even taken his OWL's. Sirius, having never studied in his entire life, didn't even want to take a specific trip or partake in a specific activity. He just wanted to "hang out."

"Remus. Listen to me. You can't make yourself crazy over this. You'll do better if you're not all stressed. Now let's play chess. Or go to the kitchens. Or we can just go for a walk!" With that, Sirius put his hand on Remus' shoulder, in an attempt to get a good gripping angle for some punctuating cheek-nuzzling. Unfortunately, that was when Remus moved his head to the left and forward, causing a very awkward bumping together of semi-open mouths.

Startled, Remus put his hands on Sirius' shoulders to create distance. At that point, he realized that Sirius' hands had moved from his shoulders to the back of his neck. As Remus began to comply, and felt a wet tongue greet his lower lip, James sauntered down the stairs entering the Common Room.

"Oh hey Moo—Huh?"

"FUCK!" Remus spat.

"Moony and Padfoot, sittin' in a tree…" James looked delighted.

"James, I swear to God I will murder you." Remus glowered. He chanced a look at Sirius. He had gone deathly pale and still, a stark contrast to the beet-red trembling of Remus. Perplexed, he turned his head to study further.

Sirius met Remus' gaze, quickly cast his eyes downward, and stood up. "I, uh, I gotta' go," he stammered. Stumbling, he clumsily half-walked half-ran out of the Common Room.

Remus and James gaped at the scene. "Did I miss something?" Remus asked.

James sighed. "You have no idea."

Armed with James' Invisibility Cloak and the Map, Remus set off toward the Room of Requirement, his eyes set on the pacing feet of Sirius Black. He wasn't sure why Sirius had acted that way, and he wasn't exactly sure why he was consoling Sirius instead of James, but it had become clear that this was the only right course of action to take.

As he found his way to the Room, he mumbled to himself, "I just need to talk to him." Instantly, the door appeared and Sirius' footsteps could be heard inside. Remus pushed open the door.

"Now's not the time." Sirius' voice cracked with the last word.

"I think it might be." Remus' conviction startled even him. "What happened?"

"That's a good question." Sirius replied.

"Okay, Sirius, honestly, I'm really confused right now and I'd really like if it we could figure this shit out and go to bed ASAP because-"

"I'm sorry, okay?" Upon closer inspection, Remus saw that Sirius' face was streaked with tears.

"Fuck, Padfoot, it's going to be alright ok?" Remus stepped toward Sirius and put his hands on the boy's shoulders. Even though he knew he was missing a critical piece of information, he knew enough to know that Sirius wasn't one to cry. "Just tell me what's going on."

Sirius looked Remus in the eye, grabbed his face in his hands, and softly kissed him on the lips. Remus stepped closer, closing the distance between the two boys.
