Just a little ficlet I wrote after a cute fanart I saw. I do not own Doctor Who or any of its characters. Feedback is always appreciated. Enjoy. :)
Rose lay her head on the Doctor's shoulder, her hand pressed to his chest feeling the strong thumping of his new single heart beneath it. She could feel the stubble of his cheek as he rested it on her forehead. He had a firm grip on her as they just held each other, basking in each other's warmth.
And Rose just felt everything.
Every whispered sigh, every deep breath, every single heartbeat. Rose could feel it all.
She was sprawled across the Doctor's lap as they traveled back to London from Bad Wolf Bay. Though there was much to sort out, much to talk about, they both agreed that it could be dealt with later. When they've both had proper rest and time to really think, but for now it was just them.
Just the Doctor and Rose. Right here, right now. Just them.
The Doctor's left held was spread across Rose's back supporting her as his right hand clasped her hip, drawing her ever closer to him. He held his eyes closed and absorbed the feel of her against him again. He never wanted to let her go again, not after everything that happened. Not after finally getting her back.
No, he would fight for this no matter what. They had a chance now to spend their lives together and he was not going to waste it.
He heaved another deep sigh and pulled her even nearer, as if to draw her into himself. Rose giggled, a soft smile on her lips as she snuggled into the crook of his neck. She pressed a tiny kiss to his skin and felt a small shudder run through him.
The Doctor did not open his eyes, did not to ruin this blissful moment between them but he could not help brushing a soft kiss to Rose's forehead in response. No words were spoken; they did not need them.
For now they just held onto one another and let themselves feel.
