(I love Yuffie! Wheeeeeee! Yay Yuffie! ^^)

It had started out as a warm humid morning, and it was going to end as a warm humid night. Looking up and up along the huge carved rocks along Wutai village, way up high, a lone figure could be scene, tossing a materia up and down as she lay on her stomach in the hot bright sun that beat down on her bare lower legs as she basked. It was a scene of peace and serenity that matched in no way the unsettled way of her unoccupied mind.

Yuffie Kisaragi stood up slowly, and stared off and down into the village below. "Damn," she said unhappily to herself. "We're really in trouble, aren't we? And here I am, about to go off on some crazy 'save the world' hero's mission led by a spiky haired idiot and his fawning girlfriend. Great gods." She shook her head in mild amusement and exasperation with the forces of life and nature that had put in such a position.

"So what if some big meteor is gonna come and get everybody? More room for me." She yawned and stretched her arms, letting the facets of her newly "borrowed" materia catch the sunlight. "Could really just stay here until it blows, I guess. Then wait to salvage what's left. Bound to be some materia that survived. Would be a whole new life for me. I don't need anybody else…" she sat down on a rock again. "Who am I kidding? I ain't gonna live through this, nobody is. Just when big-ass deathtrap."

She stood on a ledge and looked over onto her village, on the people walking around with their heads down, and on the shops with the signs, "Out of business," and "Closing." It hurt her. These had been a proud people once, she knew. "We were so strong once!" She flounced on to the ground again. "What happened to us? Stupid dad, thought the old geezer could keep this up on his own. Guess I was wrong, you should never trust an old guy. Isn't even much good at fighting any more. Ah, poor old dad."

"Wonder what'll happen to this place if I go all kamikaze and go off on this thing to save the earth?" She frowned. "I mean, there's no way this place'll thrive without me! I am the next Kisaragi! I'm the one who has to steal for this place, keep this place going! I mean, without me, there's no Wutai…and I guess without Wutai, who am I? What's my purpose? I'm not cut out for saving the earth…I gotta stay here! Right? Right! This is my place! I gotta take care of it!"

"But…" she looked over to Lord Godo's home, standing tall against the small village. "If I don't go…the world's gonna go boom, right? And then, we'll all die anyway. I mean, those idiots totally can't pull off a crazy mission like that without me, no way! Look at them, all goodness and justice and blech. Them and their stupid ideals are gonna get them and all of us killed! Hell, I have to go! What'll happen if I don't??" She stood straighter and walked out to the ledge again, from where she could see everything.

"Yeah, of course I'm going! What was I thinking?? I gotta stay alive!! I haven't found the world's greatest materia yet, so I can't stop now! I have to save Wutai! Gotta carry on the Kisaragi traditions!" She laughed at loud. "Don't you worry, dad. Don't you worry about a thing. I'm gonna whip that meteor till it doesn't know what hit it! Oh yeah! Here I come world, Here I come! I am Yuffie Kisaragi, learn the name! Wahoo!"
