"Babe!" A voice called out loudly from the kitchen.
"What is it?" She replied lazily from the couch in the living room.
A few minutes had passed and there was no response, the blonde lying comfortably on the couch propped up and looking over to the open kitchen.
She found herself mesmerized by her blonde lover moving around in their kitchen, preparing some kind of snacks.
'Theirs.' The thought of sharing something so intimate with her long time girlfriend brought a smile to her face.
Her wonderful girlfriend, soon-to-be fiancée, made her way from the kitchen counter to the sofa, holding a plate of veggies and a bowl of popcorn.
Rolling her eyes, her beloved said "How is it that I'm the one who's making food for you?"
Aubrey lifted her legs up to allow Amy to sit on the other side of the couch before resting them on her girlfriend's lap.
"Because you love me." She giggled softly and kissed her on the cheek. She leaned over to the coffee table and took hold of a few carrot sticks.
Amy raised an eyebrow at her lover's antics. Instead of replying, she leaned over to Aubrey and took a bite from the carrot stick in between Aubrey's fingers.
"Hey! Get your own!" Aubrey protested playfully, feeding Amy the rest of the carrot.
Amy hummed in response and pulled Aubrey onto her lap. As Aubrey straddles hers, she tilted her head upwards and captured those soft lips.
Aubrey smiled into the kiss, wrapping her arms around her girl's neck.
When the kiss ended, neither of them pulled away. Their forehead rested against each other's.
"Marry me." Aubrey blurted out quietly.
This was definitely not the way she wanted to propose, she had the whole big romantic gesture planned out! But instead, the way Amy had looked at her after their kiss, the way she always looked at her had pushed her to ask the question.
A moment of silence dawned upon them, fear and hesitation began to creep into Aubrey's mind.
It was too soon.
Amy wasn't ready for this kind of commitment.
Too soon.
As Aubrey was about to pull herself away from Amy's lap and opened her mouth to take back what she had blurted out, Amy kissed her.
"Yes..." Amy said in between kisses. "Yes! Yes, yes, yes!"
Aubrey blinked in surprise, did Amy really…?
"Really?" She asked incredulously, wishing that she had not misheard her blonde.
"Yes, Aubrey, I'll marry you." Amy said grinning widely.
"Oh… Oh my god. You said yes!" Aubrey jumped up from Amy's lap and started jumping on the couch. "She said yes!" She screamed joyously, Amy began to laugh uncontrollably as she watches her now fiancée jumping ecstatically above her.
What was a quiet afternoon in the Amy-Aubrey apartment was replaced with giggles, laughter, screaming and most obviously, love.
'We're getting married!'
