The Great Story
(Alex enters)
Alex- (happily) Hello, isn't it a lovely day.
Kailey- (putting her book down and saying in a depressed voice) No, nothing's going right today.
(Monica enters from opposite side of Alex.)
Monica- What's up?
Kailey- (getting up and walking around) Nothing's going right. I don't know what part I play in the world. Of what importance am I? What can a woman do?
Alex- Lot's of things. Women today can be mechanics, racecar drivers, and even astronauts. Wrestlers too!
Monica- We can be political leaders too. As for importance, we're very important. Men wouldn't be here if we weren't here to look after them.
Alex- (offended) Hey! Women wouldn't be here without men!
Kailey- (still depressed) We wouldn't be here without each other. Anyway, that's not what I mean. I'm not of any importance. I can't change anything in the world. Why did God create me?
Alex- (puts a hand on Kailey's shoulder) Kailey, you're part of a story. A great story that started before time started. First God made the Earth and rested on the seventh day, Sabbath. Then he put Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. They became wise by eating the fruit of knowledge, which God forbade them to eat. They got punished for that.
Monica- Then, thousands of years later, came Jesus, the...
Kailey- Messiah!
Monica- Correct. Anyway, Jesus healed lots of people and taught them about God. The Romans crucified him. The people took him down from the cross and laid him in a cave. Then came Jesus' resurrection.
Kailey- Easter!
Alex- Those are just a few important details. From God's creation of the Earth to people surfing the web, it's all part of the story of life. We have to be patient and wait for God to reveal to us the particular part that we play.
Kailey- (smiling) Thanks! I feel a lot better. I guess I'll just have to wait to learn my part.
