Bittersweet
AN: I'm back! And you guys all know how much I love Chad with Tatsuki, so here is a oneshot for them! Couldn't help myself:]
Chad sat serenely on the school rooftop, eating the lunch he had bought, all the while watching Ichigo and Rukia bicker. He'd never tell them, but the pandemonium they always caused made a nice backdrop for his quiet life. He allowed himself a small, secret smile as they stopped fighting and started laughing. They really were close weren't they? He had initially felt pretty jealous at their immediate friendship, but he had managed to let it roll off his broad back. Like a duck shakes off water, ya know?
He and Ichigo will always be friends, and they will always kick ass. And if Rukia just takes up more of his friends attention, then that's just fine. That bitty little spitfire was good for Ichigo anyways.
Tatsuki took that moment to plop down next to him. They had always been good friends, but they were spending more time together as of late. The two strong teens were in the same boat. Orihime was spending more time with Ishida, so Tatsuki ended up spending less time with her buxom buddy. It left a deep seated ache in the tomboy's chest to think that she and Orihime weren't as close anymore.
"Hey Chad. Whatcha thinking in there?" Tatsuki demanded playfully, knocking gently on his head.
"They look good don't they?" Chad murmured huskily, looking towards the bickering duo.
"Ichigo's lucky to have found a girl that can take all his crap."
"M'hmm." He agreed.
They ate in silence, not needing to say much else. They had a lot in common: high spiritual pressure, a strong and direct punch and an even stronger fondness for their friends.
But now they were both faced with the ever painful and devastating process of realizing that their best friends were steadily changing, and ever so slowly beginning to drift away. It felt wonderful to silently sit together as they rode out all of life's bittersweet changes.
