A/N: So I finally decided to leave the realms of Supernatural fanfic and decided to have a go at something else. This is my first ever Doctor Who fic and to be honest, it's not very good. It's just a short story to get me started.

Set at the end of Journey's End

Disclaimer: I don't own Doctor Who nor am I affiliated with it in any way.

She would never know

She had been the most important person in the universe but she would never even remember it.

She had saved the universe. She had destroyed Davros' plans and disabled the reality bomb but she would never know just how important she was. He watched her before he left, talking on the phone to her friend about the events that had happened that day with no memory of the part she played. It made him sad to see all her potential disappear in one moment. She hadn't recognised him. He had expected it but it still came as a shock. It was as if he had never existed in her life.

Well; in her world he didn't exist. He was just another random person on the street; someone she would see once but then forget. Just two strangers passing in the street and disappearing into the night. He wouldn't be imprinted on her memory; he would just melt away. It was best that way though, in the long run. He would rather have her alive and never know than for her to die; which is what would happen if she could remember.

She would live her life out, grow old and die and she would never remember the adventure, the fun and all the running. She would never remember their meeting in the TARDIS, on the day of her wedding, she would never know about the Ood or the Daleks, all the excitement of travelling across the universe.

But there had been a two way meta-crisis; she had become part Timelord when that should never have happened. She hadn't been able to take it; she had begun to overload and it was going to kill her. There was only one thing that could be done and as much as neither one of them wanted that it was the only way she could survive.

And so she was forced to go back to her mundane life; full of chatting on the phone, going to work and to the pub with friends. A life with no excitement, a life she hadn't wanted to live; a life she had desperately wanted to escape, but would forever be forced to. An existence forced about by her bravery, her undeniable courageousness that amazed him. She had come a long way from the obnoxious bride who had appeared in the TARDIS; although she had never been afraid to tell him exactly what she thought of him; sometimes when it was highly inappropriate but she had been a good friend. The best anyone could ever ask for.

She wasn't just a temp. She wasn't just an ordinary person, one of the masses who drifted through life and never really living. She always put herself down; making herself seem less important than she actually was but she was so much more than that.

She was Donna Noble; the woman who had saved the universe and the universe sang songs about her bravery.

But she would never know.
