Title: Conditions

Author: TigerLilyFire

Summary: "If you really want to get married, I need you to sign this contract." "Contract?" "Mhmm."

He waves to me from the tree. Grasping into my cap I fumble with a piece of paper, its light, grainy texture soothes me and I sigh. This…this is right. I know I am making the right the decision. I walk closer to him. Right foot, left foot, intake air, exhale air. What I was about to do would change my life forever…

"Hey. Congratulations."

Congratulations? Is that all he has to say? I'm about to…and he…ugh. I muster out a "thanks".

"Yeah you did great -- no tripping, no dropping the diploma."

Forcing a smile, I reply, "No, nothing like that."

"I remember when I graduated. I was a little tipsy -- that's a big surprise, huh? -- And I did trip, and I reached out and grabbed the robe of Marcia Hadley, who was so not the person to grab."

I give a soft smile at his rambling. He seems to have picked that up from me... I notice a silence, and look up, as though seeing him for the first time, which, in a way, I suppose I was. I was no longer looking at Logan Huntzberger – Boyfriend, I was looking at Logan Huntzberger – Potential Life Mate.

Weird.

He's looking at me oddly, and I think he wants me to talk…heaving a sigh I look at him.

"Logan, I love you. You know how much I love you…but, I can't – I can't marry you…unless…unless you sign this."

"Wha-?"

I cut him off by forcing a piece of paper in front of his face.

"If you really want to get married, I need you to sign this contract."

"Contract?"

"Mhmm."

He looks like a fish out of water, his mouth is open and his eyes are bewildered. I giggle a bit at the comparison, imagining my handsome fiancé as a trout.

Fiancé. I can't believe I just called him that. Logan Huntzberger might be my fiancé! 'That is, of course, if he signs condition.' I think, to quickly ground myself and so as not to get my hopes up too much.

I watch his eyes scan over the agreement I made, his eyebrow quirking.

"Do you have a pen?"

I run back quickly to the site where my parents and grandparents are watching us and fumble through my purse. Grabbing a Dragonfly Inn embossed pen I race back, momentarily forgetting Rule Number 4 in the Gilmore Handbook, "Thou Shalt NEVER EVER EVER EVER Exercise"

Excuses can be made for love right?

I hand Logan the pen and smile. He takes the utensil from my hand and puts the paper to the bark of the tree to the side of us, writing his name quickly in his – surprisingly - neat handwriting.

Taking the paper, I fold it back up and place it in my hat, then rummaging through my robe to get the ring.

"Ask me now."

He kneels,

"Lorelai Leigh Gilmore, will you marry me?"

I smile, and grab his arm, pulling him to his feet. I answer his question with a quiet yes, and he kisses me, hard, solid, loving, and sweet, all at once.

Agreement 1: Wait for me.

A/N: Awww! How sweet! I was thinking to myself the other day how they could have been engaged and yet Rory could still pursue her dreams. Hence the whole, "wait for me...to get a job, career, etc." Now, be a nice reader and press Humberto, and leave me a review!
