This is a poem/story I wrote for Akito in book 21, I think. When she's arguing with Tohru by the cliff. Warning! Spoilers for Akito from book 17 on. Plus, kind of very very faintly yuri. Music inspiration for this was the vocalization of the song Breath Of Life from Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers. Also, the spelling of Juunishi may not be correct. I think it is, but I'm not sure. If you have the correct form and tell me, I'll fix it.
Furuba-San is Natsuki Takaya-San's. I'm just borrowing it! Also, the Grima Wormtongue quote is from Lord Of The Rings and not mine.
Who are you?
Why do you speak to me this way?
My juunishi are mine!
Not yours, not anyone else's!
Mine.
Don't speak of them wanting to escape!
They don't.
They want to stay beside me forever!
Do they?
No, I'll lose.
I'll lose if I think that way.
I can't lose to her.
But, she doesn't want to steal them.
"So let's start over. Hi. My name is Tohru Honda, what's your name?"
She...She doesn't want to steal them.
She wants to be friends.
Friends.
Wait, no!
Cliff, don't break!
She's falling!
Falling!
I'm screaming.
And running.
Help, help!!
Shigure!
And Yuki, can they help?
I'm trying to call for help,
but I can't.
"Calm down Akito. Now, did you push her?"
"N-No...She was standing on a cliff. She fell. Help her!"
Shigure, holding me.
I'm frightened.
So frightened/
Please,
help her!
People come,
and take her away to a hospital.
I want to see her.
To apologize.
She...She's lying there.
Still, almost not breathing.
I sit by her bed.
She's not waking up.
Just sleeping.
Wetness trickles down my face.
Am I crying?
"Please, please wake up!"
I unconsciously echo, or mimic her breathing.
In.
Out.
In.
Out.
In.
Out.
Out.
Breath in.
Breath in again.
Tohru, why are you cold?
Why?
Do you need another blanket?
There.
I've found another blanket.
You'll be warm now.
"Don't worry Tohru, I'll watch over you. Until you wake up. Then I can tell you how sorry I am."
Something's wrong.
She's not warming up.
She's...not breathing.
"Tohru? Tohru? What happened to you? I'm...I'm not alone. I can't be alone!"
I collapse on her bed,
crying.
"No..No. Don't be dead! Please, don't be dead!"
I'm not alone.
She must still be here with me!
"Wake up. Just wake up! Don't leave me alone!"
Ah, but you are alone.
Who knows what you spoken to the darkness,
In the bitter watches of the night,
When all your life seems to shrink
The walls of your bower closing in about you...
Tohru Honda died at 5:13 Am on Sunday morning.
Turned out pretty sad. Also, the thing with Akito calling Tohru just Tohru is something that I imagine she would use in desperation or loneliness before the end of book 21. Almost an alternate way of Tohru falling off the cliff, with the way this turned out.
