Hey everyone. This story is for The Return of the Chocolate Frog Card on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I wrote for (Bronze) Grogan Stump. The task was to Incorporate some kind of magical sporting event into my story. I thought of the Quidditch World Cup in the Goblet of Fire. So I kind of went with it and showed Viktor Krum's version of what happened. I hope you all enjoy Krum's Quidditch World Cup.
The roar of the crowd sent a shiver of anticipation up his spine as he got ready for the game to begin. Knowing as he did that most people came to see the opponents win. He could appreciate that. If he wasn't on the Bulgarian team he'd be betting on the Irish to win too.
"You ready, Krum?" asked the captain as he stood of the younger man.
He nodded anticipation turning into a little bought of nervousness. Everything was depending on him. All of his teams and their families were depending on him to catch the Snitch and win the game for Bulgaria.
"You'll do great, kid," one of the team beaters told him slapping his hand on the younger man's shoulder.
The sting still fresh in shoulder the Bulgarian team was announced. The captain nodded to him as they all raced onto the pitch jumping on their broom and making a show out it. This didn't sit well with Viktor. It was a game not some carnival show that his mother used to take him to when he was a child. He grew impatient as Irish team was introduced and went through their little show piece. This was ridiculous in every sense of the word.
Ludo Bagman went through the usual spiel about the rules and what have you. Viktor wasn't paying attention to that he was getting into his own head space. The special space in his head where he was able to block out all sounds and sights that weren't important to him finding the Snitch. But in this game his finding the Snitch was the most important task in the world. This was the biggest stage he'd ever played on before and at his young age it was considered quite an accomplishment.
It was some time after Bagman had stopped speaking that he first caught sight of the Snitch. He zoomed off after almost crashing into one of the Irish Chasers and knocking her off the broom. If getting that Snitch wasn't so important he'd have apologized to her but he had a job to do. He could see the Irish Seeker going after the Snitch too.
"Look at Lynch," someone from the stand called out.
He was lucky he'd caught that snippet of conversation from the stands or he'd have never gotten anywhere near the Snitch in time. Lynch was closing in the Snitch fast as Viktor neared at break neck speed.
As the sea of green Ireland supporters where on their feet to support their Seeker Viktor felt a jarring crash as he crashed into the other Seeker. A smile of victory form over the younger man's face as he felt his fingers close around the Snitch. It was still a win for Ireland but at least he had kept his teammates from total and utter embarrassment back home.
"You played good game there, laddie," the beaten Seeker, Lynch, told Viktor as he shook his hand and walked off to join his team in celebration.
Viktor smiled knowing he'd be considered a hero for his actions in his home of Bulgaria. And he also knew that very soon he'd get a chance to bring fame to Bulgaria in the Triwizard Tournament. He would to settle for that.
I hope you all enjoyed Krum's Quidditch World Cup.
