I Remember

By: Athens Eternal Maiden

In that moment, the whole world seemed to move in slow motion. I was nailed in place

I knew what it would look like, even though I could not see your face

There would be a look of that old determination in your eye; the look I knew so well

That look would still be upon your face as you fell, fell, fell

At one time I thought you an angel, though you said you were anything but. I expected you to fly away

But, 'twas never going to end that way

Finally, the world began to move again

And over to your lifeless body I ran

A halo of red blood in your ebony hair

Your vibrant blue eyes were glassy and blank as you lie there

Even to this day my life will never be the same

And I shall wince whenever I hear your name

Someone once said "Know yourself and to yourself be true"

But, I can never again be me without you

Now, they say your name in whispers, with poison on their lips

I can almost see it as it drips, drips, drips

Down and tarnishes you legacy

Oh, if you could only see!

How they speak of you now, all because of one wicked man

Who carried out his wicked plan

To play a game with others lives

Dangling their very beings over beds of knives

In the end, you saved us all

You, a hero, taking your final fall
