It's late in the evening; she's wondering what clothes to wear.
She puts on her make-up and brushes her long blonde hair.
Lucy Diamond watches Amy from her convenient post against the door jamb. The smile that stretches her well tanned skin is only slightly lecherous. But what can you expect when her beautiful blonde lover is walking to and from their shared closet in nothing more than skimpy underwear.
"The blue one," Lucy suggests after Amy has taken nearly a dozen dresses out of the closet and discarded them all. Amy flashes the brunette woman a smile before shimmying in to the dress. It's a shade that Lucy cannot name, though Amy certainly would be able to, but all the same it will make the blue in her eyes stand out.
Lucy pushed off from the door to stand behind Amy. "You almost ready?"
Looking at her girlfriend in the mirror Amy simply smiled and nodded.
And then she asks me,
"Do I look all right?"
And I say,
"Yes, you look wonderful tonight," Lucy responds.
We go to a party and everyone turns to see
This beautiful lady that's walking around with me.
Or maybe they are staring at me, Lucy thinks to herself. That is a good guess because no matter how hot, beautiful, sexy, wonderful, or other adjective of choice Amy looks the glances are not friendly. They are down right hostile. Of course what do you expect at a DEBS party. But not just DEBS, Homeland Security, NSA, CIA, FBI, the rest of the alphabet soup, and possibly the NRA, or, you know, not them.
Not that Lucy was scared, or that she would admit it if she was. She just didn't want to be here where if looks could kill she would have dead after RSVPing. Not that anyone here could lay a hand on either of them, they had pardons from the big guy, and not the jolly, fat man with reindeer.
Lucy can feel Amy's eyes upon her and turns with a smile toward her girlfriend.
And then she asks me,
"Do you feel all right?" Amy asks.
And I say,
Lucy wasn't lying when she said, "Yes, I feel wonderful tonight." But it wasn't the whole truth either.
I feel wonderful because I see
The love light in your eyes.
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don't realize how much I love you.
Lucy spends most of the party up against the open bar with Scud. He is less comfortable here than she is even if he was much less the target of evil looks. Together they talk and watch their respective DEBs chat with other party goers. Lucy loves the small smiles that Amy always shoots her way, but when the beautiful blue eyes aren't looking the brunette tends to drink a little more than she should.
She smiles at Amy again before repeating her mental mantra, 'You are here because you love Amy. You are here because you love Amy.'
It's time to go home now and I've got an aching head,
So I give her the car keys and she helps me to bed.
Maybe it wasn't so smart for Lucy to drink so much. As the party ticked past midnight the logical portion of her brain, the one that told her to stop drinking, was drowned under a flood of Jack Daniels. So when it came time to leave the party it was impossible for Amy to not notice Lucy's level of intoxication.
At the glare from Amy, Lucy smartly turns over the keys to her well beloved car. Sitting in the passenger seat Lucy attempts to stifle the few hiccoughs that escape from her.
And then I tell her, as I turn out the light,
Amy ends up leading Lucy up the stairs and strips of Lucy's party clothes. But the darker woman is in no position to do anything about the quasi-sexual ministrations. She simply falls in to the bed. Reaching out with a questing hand for the light switch Lucy is almost asleep as she mutters,
I say,
"My darling, you were wonderful tonight. Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonight."
