The Short Tale of Henry Johnson

Henry gripped his bow tightly; he notched an arrow waiting for Michael Yew's signal. A line of dracaenae approached with a legion of hellhounds behind them.

"Now!" Michael shouted.

The Apollo children charged firing arrows of all kinds into the line of monsters. Henry shot several exploding arrows and a few Greek fire ones too. The line of monsters didn't break. A few fell, but there were so many of them; at least two hundred monsters still charged.

"For Apollo and Olympus!" Michael shouted rallying the cabin mates.

Henry leaped over a car and fired an arrow that hit a dracaenae square in the face. He jumped down and smacked another dracaenae in the face. A hellhound jumped at him, he dodged by jumping to the side but the hellhound caught his right ankle in its mouth. The teeth dug into his skin. He batted the hellhound hard in its eyes and it whimpered and let go. It snapped at him again, he smacked it aside with his bow then jumped on its back. He notched an arrow and aimed for the head. The hellhound dissolved into dust. Most of Henry's arrows bounced off the armor of the monsters but he was able to take down 5 more dracaenae and two more hellhounds before he was down to his last two ordinary arrows.

"Yeah! Go Henry!" Michael shouted.

Henry looked over and saw a hellhound charging Michael from behind. Henry ran and pushed Michael out of the way so the hellhound swatted him and not Michael. Henry flew into an SUV. The hellhound charged. Henry fired an arrow, but the hellhound was too quick, it dodged it and stopped right in front of him. Henry grabbed his last arrow; he didn't notch it as the hellhound was to close. The hellhound pounced. Just as it opened its maw large enough to bite Henry's head off, Henry jabbed his arrow in to roof of the dog's mouth. It shrieked in pain and dissolved. Michael ran over and took out some bandages, but it was too late, the hellhound's claws had ripped through the flesh on Henry's chest. A loud roar echoed from the line of monsters. The Minotaur emerged from the ranks of its brethren.

"Someone get me a phone, I need to call Annabeth!"

Michael shouted as the Minotaur hit a camper who didn't get up, "Henry, thank you for saving me."

"It's…it's what any…of us would have done," Henry said his voice shaky.

"Come on, you'll be alright, I can bandage you up and-" Michael stammered.

"No, I'm not going to be alright, just promise me something," Henry said weakly.

"What," Michael asked his eyes getting watery.

"Promise me…promise me that…no one will die in vain today. Promise me that Camp Half-Blood will win and that Kronos will fall," Henry said his strength fading.

"I, I promise we will bring Kronos down," Michael managed.

And Henry Johnson died, at peace knowing his friends would live.
