Waiting

Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter.

A/N: Hey guys! It's been a LONG time. I've decided to get back into it all with a new one-shot. Sorry about the quality. It's definitely not my best. I've decided to finally write some Ginny/Harry (Okay? I surrender!), but I'm still strong with Ron/Hermione! Hope R/Hr fans aren't too disappointed. Anyways, enjoy the story!

"How're you feeling?"

"Exhausted," Ron said.

"Really? I'm rather happy. It's hard to believe that that was our last day of actual training," Harry commented.

"Yeah, but we've got the written exam tomorrow; another thing to worry about."

Harry felt almost giddy. His three years of Auror training were almost over. In just over one day he'd be on the train, returning to what he hoped would be a more normal and less strenuous life. He had to admit, that even with his advanced defense skills, training was still hard. It was more than hard, it was grueling. Every night Harry would gladly collapse onto his cot and rest his sore muscles. It hurt to move, but that was the point. They worked you until you were almost dead, expected you to get up the next day, and move quicker than you did before. He had thought it was impossible, but soon he learned to push through the pain. Harry tried hard. Sometimes so hard that he would pass out, but that didn't happen too often.

The final exam hadn't been too difficult at all. Of course, Ron had complained about it some, but both he and Harry managed to pass. They actually did fairly well. They sent in their scores with their applications. Harry and Ron could expect a reply by the next week and then it'd be back to tough work.

"Can't wait to get back," Ron said. He hadn't seen Hermione in three years. They'd only been able to write letters to each other.

Just thinking of how Ron and Hermione were still together made Harry feel sullen. He was jealous of how Ron had something to go back to and he didn't.

"All right, mate?"

"Yeah…"

"You're thinking about her, aren't you? Ginny?"

"Yeah," Harry replied.

"She'll be waiting."

"I don't think so, Ron. It's been three years. What did I ever give her? I broke up with her, remember?"

"I know my sister, okay? She'll wait for you to come back. However long it takes."

"Easy for you to say. You know you've got someone waiting for you."

"Yeah, I'm lucky. And I'll tell you, I'm just glad that I told her. I almost didn't. I was too afraid about what she'd think, until I realized that there might not even be another bloody day for her to think about anything at all! It's all up to you, Harry."

The train pulled slowly to a stop and Ron, taking all his luggage, clambered down the narrow steps to the platform.

"Ron?" It was Hermione. Harry felt himself start to grin.

Ron dropped all his luggage and Hermione met him in a running embrace.

Harry let his eyes wander. There was Mrs. Weasley…

"Oh, Harry! How was it?"

"Great."

"Thanks for getting Ron through it all," Hermione said laughing.

"Actually, I got some help from him. How've you been?" Harry asked as he pulled her into a friendly hug.

"Harry…" Ron tilted his head in a direction. Harry turned and looked and there she was. Waiting.
