Title: Burglars
Drabble: #24
TK's prompt: The Little Mermaid
Randomly selected pairing: Jyoukari
Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon.
Notes: When I said that I've never seen The Little Mermaid, TK's response was, 'You've never been to Belgium! Get out of your comfort zone, woman! TK the promptmeistress has spoken! Now get out there and write the best Little Mermaid-inspired Jyoukari drabble FFN's ever seen!' … I wouldn't dare disobey.

Jyou's snapped open; he was a light sleeper and it only took the slightest bit of noise to wake him up. His initial thoughts were, perhaps not so surprisingly, about his studies. His grades were surely going to suffer from such an early wake up call because, Jyou knew, it was impossible for him to achieve his full potential if he wasn't properly rested. He was going to have difficulty concentrating in school the next day now that his sleep had been interrupted, he just knew it. How could he be expected to excel if he was going to be woken up in the middle of the night?

When this slight panic had passed, he realised that he was alone; Hikari wasn't lying next to him. He fumbled with his glasses as he squinted over at the digital clock. Was that really the time? No wonder it was still so dark and quiet. Well, as quiet as it could be with the murmur of noise coming from another room. Jyou stumbled a bit as he reached for his dressing gown and glanced around for any blunt object he could use; there might have been burglars. Holding Hikari hostage, in their own house! Threatening her with unspeakable torture… maybe even carrying it out. The thought made Jyou feel like gagging, and after a slight hesitation he shrugged off his own cowardice and rushed toward the source of the noise.

He burst into the room with the noise, wielding the golf club he'd grabbed above his head, and stopped at what he saw. There were no burglars, only Hikari who was now staring at him with a very innocent and slightly confused expression. She asked him why he was waving a golf club, and his embarrassed response was that he woke up and felt like practicing his aim. She giggled before shaking her head and turning her attention back to the TV.

Jyou sighed and dropped the club before noting that Hikari was watching 'The Little Mermaid'. He twitched. She woke him up so she could watch that blasted film again? She must have seen it a hundred times already; what was she doing watching it now, in the middle of the night?

She replied that she couldn't sleep and that she loves this film, and she apologised for waking him up because she really didn't mean to.

Defeated already, Jyou trudged back to their room. He swore if that film woke him up one more time, he was going to throw it out the window.
