The first time he meets her is during a battle within a small village, tackling down local Risen causing ruckus. And although she's got quite the vocabulary (really intricate and formal for his taste), and her knowledge is more akin to the universe (as it seems never-ending), Lon'qu cannot help but feel like she's lost her sense of balance. Logic overpowers common sense in her mind, even while she is in the battlefield.

"Rngh!" Lon'qu grunts as he closes the distance between himself and Miriel in the blink of an eye, Killing Edge slicing through the shadowy, dead figure. It deteriorates before her eyes, which causes her to utter a single gasp and push her glasses to their proper place. "Fascinating," she merely comments with a nod, closing the tome that is in her possession. "It would seem that these creatures have a variety of options in terms of death – weaponry and magic, although, I hypothesize that the possible results of hand-to-hand comba—"

"What the hell are you blabbering about?" The myrmidon presses – somewhat annoyed – as his eyes quickly scan the area. "Shouldn't you be attacking these things instead of just standing there?" His gruff voice holds a bit of sourness – she does possess a weapon, and yet, does not bother to use it.

She clears her throat slowly stepping towards the area where the Risen perished. "These odd creatures are intriguing – I must study their habits, and their way of life, which would alt—"

The mage does not notice that she is approaching Lon'qu. With widening eyes, Lon'qu immediately takes a few more steps away, Killing Edge ready to swing. "Stay back," he warns with a small growl.

"Excuse me?" The redhead tilts her head. "I appear to be perplexed at your statement."

"Do not get any closer—Ugh." Lon'qu covers his face, sighing loudly into it. This woman…would quite literally be the death of him. "Just use that tome of yours and fight the Risen."

"I seem to find myself disagreeing."

"For Naga's sake, no more studying the Risen. They are enemies, woman." His name being yelled at from across has him swerve to his left, holding his weapon up and toss over his shoulder, "Now, fight!"

Miriel gapes as he rubs off to join Gaius, then eyes the scene around. The numbers of the Risen have reduced to only a few as they are slowly killed off. Quietly, she gazes at her spell book, but for once, follows through his advice instead of her mind as she opens it and summons an Elfire.

She kills one of the Risen, and it leaves her absolutely confused.
