Disclaimer: Regrettably, I do not own Doctor Who. Maybe someday I will.

He's a wanderer. The man without a home. He keeps running because he dare not look back. He runs from the past. He runs from the future. Always running. He never will stop running. If he does, then the Universe might just end. He will have to quit eventually. He'll have to stop. But he will hang on as long as possible. Death will have to be very patient.

You can stop running with him. You can leave him and go home. You can try to go back to your old life. But you never will. There is more out there. You will know this, and you won't ever forget it. How could you possibly? Going back to your old life completely is impossible. You can leave him, but you will never be the same again.

He is so lonely. He always has been. So very lonely. As he's gotten older, the loneliness has only gotten worse. Now that he is the last of his kind, he must be so much lonelier. We can only guess how horribly sad he must be. Our lives are so very fleeting. He could never give us his forever, though we might give him his. He will never age. He will live for so much longer than he already has. And perhaps this is the reason he is alone.

He never does things in the right order. Time is not a straight line, after all. It curves and changes in so many places. And besides, where's the fun in taking the slow path? It is very confusing trying to use the right verb tenses when you're with him.

He's so intelligent it's scary. He might look young sometimes, but the eyes give him away. Those ancient eyes. There is so much behind those eyes. There is sadness, there is happiness, and there are so many stories to be told, but you could never hear all of them. He doesn't want to share them. Maybe he is afraid to remember.

It'll be frightening, traveling with him. There will be things that will terrify you. Things that make you cry. Things that will make you wonder if it was even worth it at all. But there will be wonderful things, too. There will be times when you suddenly and remarkably remember why you wanted so badly to come along. It might be horrifying, but it'll be something else. It is going to be fantastic.

His name is a secret. He can never tell anyone. He says it can't be pronounced by humans, but is that really why?

He says he's a Doctor. No, not a doctor, the Doctor. A definite article, you might say. He's the Doctor. Just the Doctor. But Doctor Who?

A/N: I hope you guys liked this random little story. It just popped into my head at like 1:00 in the morning, and I had to write it. I'm just crazy like that.
