What is Christianity?
It was just another Sunday.
I was sitting in the back pew.
My eyes began to get heavy.
My mind wandered for a minute or two.
I began to think of Lunch today,
and the test, I took, on Friday.
I was tempted to do my homework
but I was afraid of what someone would say.
I began to think of other things.
I looked down and straightened my tie.
I began to draw on some paper
when a kid caught my eye.
The kid was very happy.
He could stay all day apparently.
He seemed to eat up the Word.
He was paying much more attention than me.
Then I looked more closely
His clothes looked like rags.
His shoes were awfully dirty.
His pants seemed to be made of bags.
I looked at the expression on his face.
How could he be glad?
He didn't have anything other people did.
He didn't even have a Bible, mom, or dad.
He was sitting on the front pew.
Wasn't he worried someone would judge?
I, silently, pleaded with him to move,
but he wouldn't budge.
Finally, church was over.
I got up out of my pew quickly.
I caught up with him, and asked him simply,
"How can you be so happy?"
He stared at me a second
thinking of what he would say.
I'll never forget his expression when he finally said,
"I got saved today."
I was stunned on the ride back home.
I thought about what Jesus had done for me.
Then, I got saved right then and there.
I decided I would be the best witness for Him that I could be.
I thought about what my life had been.
I thought Christianity was such a chore!
While I was fidgeting in my pew,
A little kid was knocking on Christ's door.
