Written for the Pairing the Character Drabble Competition.
The June day was gorgeous, and the sun glittered upon the golden bangles that hung around Parvati's wrists as she lay happily on the grass. It was beautiful. She had never liked to be alone, but during this lovely finale of spring, she didn't mind.
"Parvati?"
She recognized Harry immediately; she rather liked him, though she knew perfectly well that her feelings were entirely unreciprocated. Parvati wasn't shy, but somehow she had never worked up the nerve to talk to him; it was probably the combination of "savior of the world" and "extremely attractive and kind classmate."
"Hi, Harry," she said calmly.
"So... I know we never talk and all, but I just wanted to, erm, say sorry about the whole Yule Ball thing..."
"You're fine, Harry, don't worry."
He grinned, relief gleaming on his face in the stunning sunlight, and they smiled at each other for several seconds, and the moment was awkward but beautiful.
"Well, I have to get back to Ginny. Er, thanks again."
"No problem. See you around, Harry."
"See you." He was not in love - not with her, at least - and she knew that well.
Still, today was a lovely day for apologies.
