Hi party people! If you can think of a better title for this it will be changed. Bye all.
Busted.
'Homelessness is such a crummy word. I prefer 'unfortunately has nowhere to stay at this moment in time'. The girl glared at the police officer, other kids might have been scared of a police officer, not her, this one stood her ground.
'I agree with you totally.' He didn't. Grown-ups always thought they were the right ones and that kids were just plain stupid. OK, this time the officer was right, but he was just being so unfair about her situation.
This girl was Max Guevara, fifteen years old and currently living in Los Angeles. Some people might say LA was paved with gold, not anymore. The pulse had destroyed all forms of righteousness and goodwill, leaving some people with less…great lives.
'Officer. Leaving this spot would deny me somewhere to sleep for at least a good seventy two hours, and we wouldn't want that.' Max looked pathetically at her scrap of cardboard and blanket. 'I'm just a kid, where would I go?'
'Orphanage. Most of you losers have no parents.'
'They're full.'
'One of them homes for kids, or a shelter?'
'Nope. All full.'
The police officer frowned. Obviously just realising that he was arguing with a fifteen year old, homeless kid who was obviously just keeping him talking while she took his…
'My wallet…you're stealing my wallet!'
Max laughed; the bucks in here would keep her in food for a long time.
'Very clever. Now then, what are the days of the week?'
The police officer lunged at her, missing while she vaulted on to a dumpster. The officer's face was now a fierce poppy colour as he swiped at her feet with a piece of piping he picked up off the floor. Max leaped in to the air, avoiding what could have been a serious case of swollen ankles.
'Whoa! Play fair!' Max had had enough. What was she doing messing with this guy when she could be off spending his money? She jumped again, this time into a perfect somersault, her hands grabbed a metal ladder, which served as a very unstable fire exit, and she climbed off on to the roof. Once again out of harms way.
