Ginny sat in the corner of the Gryffindor common room, out of everyone's way and trying to avoid the angry stares from the other Gryffindors. A few people had come by to cheer her up, but she waved them off. She had just lost Gryffindor the game against Hufflepuff. Harry had told her that it was the team that had lost the game, but she knew it was her fault. During the game, she ended up colliding with two of her own teammates, giving the Hufflepuffs the chance to score a few points. In the end they had been slaughtered, almost getting knocked out of the Qudditch tournament.
Ginny continued to sit in her armchair, moping about the lost game until Hermione came over and sat herself down in the chair next to her. "Come to cheer me up? Come to tell me how it wasn't my fault me lost the game? Something like that?"
"No." Hermione pulled a book out from her bag and opened it. "I'm here to study."
"Okay good." Ginny watched as Hermione read through her book. Ginny tried to make herself comfortable in her chair, but no matter what, she still felt uncomfortable. She got up. "I'm going to my bed."
"Fine by me," said Hermione.
Ginny started walking away, but she turned around. "I forgot my bad."
"I understand." Hermione still had her eyes glued to her book as Ginny picked up her bag. Ginny was about to leave when Hermione lifted her head. "You know, it wasn't your fault. Losing the game, that is."
Ginny rolled her eyes. "Yes, I know. Everyone's been telling me that."
"Would you rather have me tell you it was your fault?" said Hermione.
"Maybe," said Ginny.
Hermione sighed. "It was all your fault. If it wasn't for you we would have won the game. We might lose the House Cup because of you. Does that make you feel better?"
Ginny laughed. "Actually yes."
Hermione closed her book and put it back in her bag. "Look, it was just one game. Yes, there are a lot of people who are mad at you. They'll blame you for losing the game now, but they'll be singing you're praises once you guys beat Ravenclaw."
"How do you know we'll beat Ravenclaw?" said Ginny.
Hermione smiled. "That's how things usually go."
"What do you mean?" said Ginny.
"We usually lose the game to Hufflepuff," said Hermione. "But we always trounce Slytherin and Ravenclaw. It works out in the end."
Ginny scratched her chin. "Yeah, that's true. But what if we don't beat Ravenclaw?"
Hermione sighed. "Well then who cares? Do you think those people who hate you now know anything about what they're talking about? Do you think any of them can jump on a broom and do half the things you can do? No. Of course they can't. So why do you care what they think?"
Ginny let out a chuckle. "I know you've probably heard this before, but you're really smart."
"It doesn't hurt to hear it again," said Hermione.
Ginny turned to go back to her room when she turned around. "Um Hermione, I've got a bottle of butter beer under my bed. If you want, I could share it with you."
"That sounds like a lovely idea." Hermione got up and followed Ginny upstairs.
