"Where is Alice and Jasper! Seriously!" I asked Christina. We were watching our friends play sand volleyball and they said they would be here already.

"I don't know, she won't answer her phone."

That is not like her. Her and Jasper probably got caught up in some hot make out session and that probably led to other things. Gross.

Alice and I came to California for college after we graduated from Forks 3 years ago. We left our families, to start a new life. Me and Alice have been best friends since forever. Her family helped me and my dad out when my mom passed away when i was young.

"You know you have like the hottest boyfriend right?" Christina commented as he spiked the play to give his team the point.

"I am fully aware," I said with a smile, while watching him. I mean he did have this perfect body. He was good at almost everything he did. We have been dating for 6 months now. He was good for me.

Me and Christina jumped and cheered as he scored the winning point. He came over to give me a kiss.

"That was for you baby."

"Aw John, you are so sweet. Now get back out there," I smacked his butt. He winked back. Perfect.

"I love you."

I just smiled. I don't really say those words. I don't know if I can.

"You know usually that is the part where you say 'I love you too'."

My eyes widened when i heard the voice behind me. I didn't want to turn around. I knew that voice. I didn't want to here that voice. I just kept staring forward.

"Um so there is a freakishly beautiful boy with bronze like hair talking to you." Christina said confused.

I groaned. What was he doing here??

"So remember how I told you about Edward?"

"Yes. That isn't him is it?" she replied with shock in her voice.

"Yes."

"Bells I don't think he is gonna leave, you might want to talk to him."

"I don't want to." I said through my teeth.

"Um… well … uh … ya. I'm gonna go to the bathroom!" Christina ran away quickly.

"NOO!" I screamed at her.

I knew he was watching me. I knew he hasn't moved since he said that to me. I knew he listened to everything we talked about. I knew he wanted me to say something. But what?

"Are you just gonna ignore me?" he asked behind me.

"Sounds like a plan," I said sarcastically and not turning around to look at him.

I knew if looked at him all the feelings would come back. Everything that it took so long to get over, it would all come back. I couldn't do that.

"Come on. Can't we just talk. Catch up. Be civil about this," he said interrupting my thoughts. I kept trying to watch the game.

"No," I growled back.

"Just look at me please."

I turned around with my eyes closed. I wasn't gonna be civil. I can't see him. I'm not strong enough to go through this a second time. What does he want from me?

"Open your eyes bella," He was closer.

"Why?"

"Because I can't talk to someone with their eyes closed."

"Better reason to keep them closed."

"Honestly, just open your eyes."

I debated on opening them. Did he really deserve to talk to me? I gave up and opened him.

"What do you want Edward? How did you get here?"

"Alice dropped me off here. She said to talk to you."

"I hate her! What did I do to her that she needed to do this to me?"

Christina came back before he could answer me. She came to save me. I can't be alone with him much longer. And before I knew it John and the rest of the team were coming up the stairs to join us. They had a break before their last game.

"Hey baby," he kissed me, I kissed him back. Edward was watching.

"Hey, sorry about the loss." I frowned at him while he stood next to me with his arm around my waist. The others left to get some drinks.

"Maybe if you watch next time, I can play better," he said while looking in my eyes. That is what I needed. I smiled, he was all I needed.

"I'm sorry, Alice's brother Edward surprised me," I pointed to him. He smiled, I hate that smile.

"Oh hey, I'm John. If you are anything like your sister, I don't know if we can handle you," we all laughed. Alice was a bit hard to handle at times.

"No thank god. I don't think anyone is like her to be honest."

"True, she is very unique." It fell quiet after that.

I never mentioned to John that Edward and I were together for 3 years. I never mentioned the fact that he was the love of my life. I never mentioned that he was the one that broke my heart that John had to fix. I didn't tell him that Edward was the reason I couldn't say I love you. I didn't really tell many people. It is hard to talk about, even with Alice. I just told Christina recently. Her, Alice, Jasper where the only people who knew about it here.

"Babe, do you want me to get you a beer or something?" John asked me to break the silence.

"Designated driver remember? Why don't you go get one and enjoy not being the designated driver for once? You deserve it," I said in a flirty way. He couldn't dent me.

"If you say so. Do you guys want anything?" he asked Edward and I. We both declined. Great now it was just me and him again. Everyone was by the bar.

We just stared at each other. We both waited for someone to break the silence. I gave in.

"Edward, where are you staying?" I was really hoping he didn't say with Alice and I. But as soon as he opened his mouth I knew my hopes were shot.

"With you guys."

"For how long"

"2 weeks."

"Why?"

"Well my school is out and Alice suggested I come down here. She said it was ok, that you'd be ok," ha so much she knew. I really thought she was my best friend.

Before I could respond the volleyball team was going back out in the sand to play another game.

"Hey Christina, do you wanna play? We need another girl." One of the teammates asked.

She looked at me and frowned. I just nodded. Not much I can do, I guess I was gonna have to deal with him all on my own.

"Good luck ladies and gents!" I yelled so John didn't see my frustration! I sat down on the bleachers. Edward sat next to me. Not close, but to close for me.

What do you think so far? I will get more descriptive as we go along.
