Disclaimer: Not mine. If they were, Jareth would be my love slave. ;)

Despite what he led the Runners to believe, Jareth never wanted to keep the children. He set up the obstacles in order to teach them a lesson. "You don't know what you have 'til it's gone." Sarah may have thought highly of herself after 'defeating' him, but he didn't. She was just one of many. They called – he answered. They fought – he conceded. Harried mothers, frustrated sitters, jealous siblings – they all regretted their harsh words.

Except this one.

She never wanted the baby in the first place. Stupid girl was stoned or drunk so often, by the time she realized she was pregnant it was too late for an abortion. Not that she let it stop her of course, but her at-home attempt wasn't entirely successful. She didn't know she was carrying twins, and so two weeks later her crack baby was born.

Looking down at the impossibly small bundle in his arms, Jareth couldn't help but smile. He supposed he should be grateful the young mother was so afraid of getting caught disposing of the newborn's body. She had cried and pleaded with every deity she'd ever even heard of to come and take away her mistake. He shuddered to think what she would have done had he not answered her call.

As it was, the child had been born almost two months early hooked on drugs. It took almost everything he had to Heal the little one, and now days later he was still exhausted. Even so, she was perfect. (Okay so maybe he was a bit biased…) She had ten little fingers, ten little toes, downy blonde hair and his eyes. That had startled him at first, but considering the amount of magic he'd flooded her with it shouldn't have. He wouldn't be surprised if she had become a High Goblin herself.

After confirming his suspicion with a quick scan, his smile widened. He'd found himself an heir. He would raise her to be strong, stubborn, and cunning. She was already beautiful. Jareth ran a gentle finger down the side of her face and chuckled when she yawned.

"Sleep well, sweet Sarah."
