Fred and George laughed together, trying to find a new victim to play a prank on. Fred saw something and roughly elbowed his twin to get George's attention.

George looked to where Fred was looking and tried not to groan when he saw Alicia coming towards them. Alicia was his first girlfriend, and he loved her, but lately, things just weren't fun with them.

George enjoyed spending time away from her, but she seemed to always go out of her way to locate him and cling to him.

"Let's go, now," George whispered urgently, pushing Fred forward, in the opposite direction of Alicia.

Fred shook his head, though, not allowing them to move. "No. If you're not happy with Alicia, you need to tell her. It's not fair to lead her on when you don't actually want to be with her."

George sighed. "I don't want to hurt her."

"Lying to her about your feelings will hurt her much more in the end."

"I know," George muttered, finally standing his ground, ready to face Alicia.

She came up to him and instead of throwing her arms around his neck and kissing his cheek, she stated bluntly, "We need to talk."

George silently nodded, and they found an empty classroom to hash out their relationship. They sat at a table and stared at each other.

"We're not happy," Alicia remarked, dark eyes gazing into George's eyes.

"I don't know what you're talking about," George muttered, wanting to kick himself. Why was he denying what he knew was true? Especially since Alicia seemed to agree with him.

She arched her eyebrows disbelievingly. "Really? You might have a thick skull, but even you have to know we're not right for each other."

George threw his head back and closed his eyes. "I know, I know. It's just..."

"Just what?" Alicia gently prodded.

"You're my first love."

She rested a hand on his shoulder. "You're my first love, too, but first loves don't necessarily mean forever loves. And if we break up now, before we hate each other, at least we can still be friends."

George chuckled and looked at her. "You're right. And if we can't be friends, it could become quite difficult to be on the Quidditch team together."

Alicia laughed. "And that's what matters. Quidditch."

"We sound like Oliver," George drawled.

"He'd be proud of us," she commiserated.

George took her hand and brought it up to his lips for a soft kiss. "You'll always be special to me."

Alicia rested her head against his shoulder. "Same here. First loves are always special, but I think we're better off as friends."

"Yeah, me too. I guess you're braver than I am. I was too scared to tell you, and Fred was exasperated with my running away whenever I saw you coming."

"I knew you were avoiding me. What happened to your Gryffindor bravery?"

"It ran away with me. I didn't want to hurt you."

"Well, good thing we felt the same way." She stood up and held her hand out to him. "Friends?"

George stood up as well and grabbed his hand in a hearty handshake. "Friends."
