All You Need Is A Friend
A/N This is written from Catherine's point of view. I've never actually seen Crash and Burn but I really want to and I did read the transcript and that's where I got this idea.
I sat in the car, waiting for her to come out. I wasn't sure how she was going to be emotionally but I knew Sara Sidle probably wouldn't cry, at least not in front of me. It's funny, Sara is much different then other women I know, she wears her brain on her sleeve instead of her heart. Sometimes I wonder if that isn't the reason she has a hard time dating. Not that she ever would admit it to me, I haven't exactly been good friends with her. Maybe this was the time to change that.
I watched her walk from the police station to the Tahoe. The wind whipped her hair across her face but she didn't try to brush it off. A sure sign she's upset, I told myself. She got in the car and shut the door. I looked at her, unsure of what to say. Finally I asked her, "Got any plans?"
"Nope," Sara told me.
I had never meant to be close friends with her, especially since she was infatuted with Grissom, and Grissom and I have been friends for much longer then he knew her. I always wonder how close she and Grissom were but they're a lot alike, personal lives stay out of professional. But, the words come out of my mouth before I'm even really aware of what I'm saying. "You want to get a beer?" She turns and looks at me, almost in shock, after all, I've never offered to do anything with her before. But I've been there, I know that all you really need is someone to talk to. And I understand about men betraying you better then the guys would. I smile at her. She turns and looks straight ahead, smiles a bit, too.
"Drive." she says to me.
I turn the keys and we go. I know a good small bar not too far from her apartment, not that I expect her to get drunk but it'll make it easier if she does.
A/N So, should I add another chapter or leave it? I know Catherine and Sara aren't great friends but Catherine obviously likes her a little since she offered to get a beer with her. BTW, this is not a slash fic. Thanks for reading this and please review!
