The two boys ran down the beach, followed by a red haired girl, the cutest girl on the island as the two boys thought… both had tried winning her heart. Both had failed. She wasn't interested at the moment. She said she was too young to even think about sharing a legendary Paopou fruit with anyone.
As the two came to a halt, the girl caught up, panting.
"Riku, Sora, you meanies! Go slower next time."
"Sorry, Kairi," they said in sync. They didn't add more, just watched in awe as Tidus and Wakka sparred.
It was always impressive to watch the other kids fight, their talents were unbelievable… especially Wakka. He wasn't like the other boys, he didn't fight with a sword, that added to the excitement of a fight with him.
As the three watched, another girl approached. "Tidus!" she called out.
The blonde boy glanced over. Wakka was surprised by it and had already thrown his Blitz Ball. "Tidus!" he exclaimed. Too late. The Blitz Ball was aimed straight for the blonde.
Wakka flinched as he watched the ball connect with the child's stomach, causing the boy to double over. Wakka, Riku, and Sora ran forward to comfort the wounded Tidus.
The blonde had collapsed onto the ground in a matter of seconds, his eyes closed tightly. "Ouch…" he moaned.
Selphie, the other girl, ran forward as well. "Tidus, you okay?"
Wakka picked him up and glared at his Blitz Ball on the sand.
"You didn't mean to, Wakka!" Sora tried to comfort him.
Riku just watched the pain and redness in Tidus' face emerge, almost intrigued. He glanced up at Wakka's grief stricken face and frowned. He thought Wakka would have been thrilled to be holding Tidus. He assumed that maybe an injured Tidus wasn't what he wanted, especially when it was partially his fault.
"…Riku! Snap out of it!" Sora said. "We gotta help Tidus, and your house is closest, can we use it?"
Riku nodded. "Sure."
The group of young children advanced to a small house, after all, Riku was living by himself except for when Sora would come over. As they approached, Kairi and Selphie stopped. They had never been in a boy's house without an adult before. They looked at each other, nodding. Kairi and Selphie entered quietly, knowing it was for Tidus and nothing else.
An hour later, Sora and Kairi had to go home, and Selphie would feel too weird with three guys, so she left with them.
Riku glanced at Wakka, then at the passed out boy.
