I stood in the corner of the room, frozen in terror, small choking sobs rocking through my tiny frame. All color drained from my face as the sound of my mother's screams echoed through the house. Tears streaked down my cheeks at the sickening sound of her flesh being sliced open and her bones shattering. Carefully, I moved from my hiding spot and got a full view of the horrifying scene.
There was my mother, her body mutilated, being held in the arms of the monster, a vampire. A beast disguised as a human with a craving for human blood. Then...my heart stopped as he bit down into her neck, letting another blood-curdling scream ring through the room. I managed to bite back a shriek and met her piercing blue eyes. Those blue eyes that matched my own...filled with a saddening mixture of pain, worry and worst of all...fear... For that one second in time, my world seemed to crash around me while the blood flowing through me ran cold. I watched as her torn, bloody lips open to mouth one word.
Run.
And I did. I busted out of the house and into the snow-covered path, going as fast as my tiny 8 year old legs could carry me. I refused to slow down until my uncle's house came into full view. But, unfortunately, whatever relief I had was short lived as I ran right smack into a large black figure. Falling back onto my butt, I moved my gaze up slowly to meet the figure's terrifying ruby red eyes. Then, in a way that would carve itself into my memories for years to come, his thin blood-stained lips curled themselves up into an almost playful smirk. His canines shone with a scarlet gleam.
"Wanna join your mommy, little girl?" he purred menacingly.
My eyes widened in pure terror as he started to reach out for me with his slick red fingers. The fingers that just happened to be drenched in my mother's blood. The sickly sweet smell of it both disgusted and intoxicated me. A sharp dry feeling burned heavily in my throat while a deep throbbing feeling passed through my jaws. My vision blurred slightly, the world around me flashing a bright vermilion. I heard a bone-chilling scream bubble up from my throat and into the night sky as a horrible growl sounded in my ear. But then...it was all quiet... I watched as the vampire fell over into a pool of scarlet, showing a figure behind him. But this time I wasn't scared as I met its eyes, his kind blue eyes. I gave my uncle a small tired smile before letting myself fall down into an endless world of Dark Crimson...
