"We both thought you were an idiot,"
"John didn't though." Upon hearing that, Mycroft quirked a brow. Seeing his brother's confusion, Sherlock continued. "John has always thought the best of me,"
"I am well aware that John thinks you're smart," Mycroft commented. He kept a tone of boredom, but was really facinated. Was Sherlock finally going to admit to feeling something for the army doctor?
"Brilliant," Sherlock corrected. "Amazing. Extrodinary. Those are the words he uses,"
Mycroft let a small smile grace his features, forcing himself to come off as smug rather than encouraging. He could practically hear the wedding bells. "And have you told John of this?"
It was the detective's turn to be confused. "About what? I'm certain John is capable of remembering our conversations on his own,"
Mycroft shook his head. "I mean that you appreciate that he thinks so highly of you,"
"Don't be stupid. He doesn't need me to say anything of the sort." Was it Mycroft's imagination or was there slight color to Sherlock's features?
"So it does mean a lot to you, then?" Sherlock scoffed but said nothing, instead turning his attention to the fall in order to face away from his brother. Myrcoft decided to prod a little more. "Maybe I should say something then... Or at the very least give John a compliment or two of his own.. Just to make up for your shortcomings," If he couldn't get Sherlock to admit it, then perhaps Mycroft could at least make his brother realize his error by making him jealous.
It worked. Sherlock's eyes turned cold, now glaring at him full force. "That won't be necessary." He ground out, venom in his tone.
"You don't think John deserves the occassional priase, then?" Sherlock stilled for a moment before huffing and grabbing his scarf, heading to his coat as he wrapped the protective fabric around his neck. "And where are you off to, Brother Mine?"
"I need to get some air," the detective bit out coldly. "Your idiocy may lower my IQ if I stay here." At that, he swiftly left, leaving the older sibling alone, smiling.
There were still so many things Sherlock knew nothing about.
