Chapter 1: Dreams and Secrets

Darkness ruled the land as the beast approaches with demonic eyes that pierced the lush forest with colors of emerald and peridot were darkened by shadow and blown by the howling wind to grant it a monstrous appearance. The dew covered grass was tainted by the feet of a fleeing human.

His breaths could be seen, sweat littered his face and his eyes were dilated with fear. He'd used every ounce of strength running, running from something truly terrifying.

What was chasing him?

Where were his family and friends?

Why was he in the woods?

Could he survive?

What is this beast?

Its paws were larger than bears', its fangs were sharper than a mountain lions', it's tail was bristled in a fury as well as it's coat. But what was most horrible were the eyes, they were colder than a lone wolf.

"It's coming for me! I can't outrun it! I have to hide." The boy panted as he'd tried to save himself.

The frightened boy hid behind the pines to not be seen by the monster. The fanged beast stopped, close to the child's hiding place. So close that it could hear his trembling heartbeat. He'd slowly shifted away from the creature, praying to God that it didn't see him.

The monster sniffed the air, looking for its' prey. But it stopped when the beast heard howling in the distance. It howled with the animal and followed the source of the sound.

The boy breathed and ran away. Dehydrated and tired, he'd searched for water. Luckily he could hear a stream close by. Being careful and keeping his guard, the boy continued his search for the life-giving liquid, water.

Finally, he'd reached the stream with the hope of survival in his heart. But as his eyes spotted the reflection of the water, all he saw was the monster. Before he could react the monster attacks him!

Kyle screamed bloody murder as he'd held on to his blankets. But soon his screams turned to shaking pants. He'd his eyes quickly scanned the room to see that it was safe.

"God damn it, not again. Why do I keep having that dream...? What's wrong with me?" The ginger muttered as he'd swept the sweat from his face. Feeling thirsty and a tab hungry, he went downstairs for a meal, only to hear his parents talking about something.

"Sheila, I know you're worried. But Kyle hasn't shown any signs of it. Besides the possibility of it is 1 out of a 100." Gerald assured his wife who'd looked quite troubled.

"But it can still happen. If he does and they find out they'll-." But before the large ginger woman could finish, she'd spotted her son, soon Gerald spotted him too.

"Oh, Kyle! How long have you been there, son?" The Lawyer asked nervously.

"I just came down here for some water."

"Just go to bed, Bubbe. I'll be up to with some water and tuck you in shortly." The mother assured as her son gave a uncertain look but went up stairs.
