Skin:
Who dictates fate?,
Why does blood determine who we are?
Why are we segregated from each other?
Why do we hate each other?
Why are we racist?
Are we not all one race?
The "great" race of man?
Why do we have hate crimes?
Why does the heart not accept?
Why must the mind bind the heart?
Why does skin matter?
Does the wolf care of who its cubs are?
Does the swan care for its signets only?
Does the graceful eagle care for its chicks only?
Does the mighty lioness not adopt cubs of the abandoned?
Yet we mighty humans do not follow suit,
We discriminate push and shove each other,
Hearts as putrid as poison,
Such impurities corrupt the world as the oil corrupts the ocean,
Each day another person is born into this world of hate,
The babies mind pure till humans corrupt it,
Why must we kill? Why must we harm?
Nature has been trying to force us to change,
With her plagues, droughts, and earth-shattering quakes and tornadoes,
Do you not hear the cries of the old mother, the one who gave life to all?
Why must we be segregated at birth?
Why does our skin make us who we are?
We are ever changing; no one is ever set in stone,
Life is a parade the twists and turns it takes are up to the individual,
The parade never goes straight it twists and turns switching paths constantly,
Like an endless sea of hopes and dreams,
So why must we fight ourselves? For what land? Why can't we just share and live in harmony?
Why must we be predetermined in who is to be what, just by our births?
Destiny is not set in stone its is molded as we grow,
So end this racism, end the hate crimes, be loyal to earth,
Our divine mother and giver of life.
