When Rose woke, it was dim in the TARDIS. She groaned, rubbing the sleep from her eyes, and sat up, glancing at the alarm clock on her bedside table. The digital letters spelled out 10:21AM, and with a sigh, she realized it was time to get up.
Upon getting dressed, she found the kitchen, poured herself a cup of coffee, and grabbed a banana. She ate her breakfast on the way to the console, arriving with no banana, and half a cup of coffee left.
"Mornin," she yawned, blinking the sleep from her eyes one more time as she plopped down in the chair.
"Slept well, then?" he queried, and she nodded dully.
"S'pose so. Feelin' pretty tired now," she mentioned, and he nodded, messing with buttons on the console.
"That's expected. You just woke up."
She nodded, and took two more gulps of coffee.
"Finish up your coffee, Rose. We're headed off."
She raised her eyebrows questioningly as she peered at him over the rim of the navy blue - har dee har har, TARDIS - coffee mug.
"Pleasure visit. No race saving."
"Ah."
She deposited her coffee mug on a clear space of the console, following him as they made their way to the coat rack.
The Doctor began humming, as he shrugged on his leather jacket, and as she put her own coat on she had the strange feeling she'd heard it before.
He opened the door for her, graciously letting her go first, and then locking the TARDIS behind him, pocketing the small key.
As they walked down the streets, he began to sing under his breath.
As they rounded the corner, Rose could make out a few words.
"Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down..."
As they rounded the corner, Rose found out that the visit really WAS for pleasure, and not saving races.
Rose also found out, as she took in her surroundings - a small music venue, people waiting outside to see Rick Astley - that the Doctor had successfully Rick-rolled her, whether he'd meant to or not.
Damnit.
