30 day OTP challenge!

Prompt: Kissing

Day: 5

Steve lay on the couch on the top floor of the tower, an arm slung around Maria, who's arms were wrapped around his waist with her head on his chest. He looked down at her, playing with a strand of dark hair as he wondered how he got to be so lucky to have this woman in his life.

After Peggy, he didn't think he'd ever find someone, but he had to admit that Maria was very similar to Peggy, but also very different. Maria would kill him or anyone else that voiced that out loud.

"What are you looking at?" She asked, looking up at him tiredly.

"The most beautiful girl in the world." He said, kissing her on the forehead.

Maria sighed and got up, albeit struggling, before she made her way to the elevator. Steve watched as the doors closed before he also got up to follow her, knowing exactly where she was going.

He found her in the training room, shooting at the targets with her pistol. He snuck up behind her as silent as a cat, careful not to startle her as he wrapped his arms around her waist, kissing her neck.

"You know, I really don't deserve you." She said, sighing as she placed her gun on the cold, metal table that she had been standing behind.

"Why do you say that?" He asked, kissing her up her neck and continued kissing her up her jaw.

Maria sighed for the umpteenth time and gently pushed Steve away so she could turn around to face him.

"Because. I'm damaged. It's all I was ever told when I was growing up. Even old boyfriends that I trusted with telling all my secrets to...they even told me I was damaged. But you're different. You don't care, why?" She asked, placing her hands on his chest as she finally kissed him.

"Well, we're both damaged, I guess. We were both soldiers and we've both had difficult lives." He said, pulling away from her.

Maria smiled at him. A real, genuine smile as her grey eyes bore into his bright blue ones.

"Why do you love me though? Of all the other girls, why me?"

"I love you because you're beautiful, strong, smart, resilient, stubborn...and most of all, you're loving and caring and kind, but you know when not to be." He said, giving her a kiss on the nose, the forehead, and finally the lips.

He brushed another strand of dark hair out of her face before he slowly leaned in and kissed her once more. This time Maria kissed back, wrapping her arms around his neck.

After they pulled away, she realized Steve was right. They did deserve each other.
