ALICE was getting very tired of waiting to hold her newborn daughter again. It had been an hour since childbirth. She had given birth to a beautiful blue-eyed baby girl, who was currently in the hands of her father. The Hatter smiled down at her as he cradled her in his arm, one hand held above the infant's chest. It seemed that the child seemed inexplicably fascinated by playing with his long, slender fingers. You see, the Hatter was a fairly slender person himself. And tall, at that. He wore a white shirt under a green vest, matching tie, and had a black top hat on with a green band around the base. Naturally, there was a card reading "In this size, 10/6". He also wore black pants, and black boots in which the pants were tucked into. He had a golden pocket watch which was tucked into one of the pockets of the vest.

They were in a bedroom. There was a king-sized bed in the middle, which seemed to have a worn frame, and fairly old sheets and blankets. The floor was wooden, and several lamps were scattered about the room, along with many hats and time pieces. Of course, none of them worked. Other than that, it was a fairly typical master bedroom, with elegant furnishings.

Alice huffed impatiently, staring at the Hatter, but not saying anything. Despite wanting to spend more time with her new child, the Hatter, in all fairness, had only just received her from her mother. "How are you doing, little one?" He asked. The infant's eyes then seemed to wander to the man's orange-red hair. Her hands stopped as she stared up at him. "We'll have lots of fun together. I can teach you how to make the best hats and tea in Wonderland. That would be oh so fun!" He exclaimed with a wide smile. "Not her, too, Hatter. You know our first daughter is already obsessed with both of those things. Can't I teach her something normal, like sewing or writing?" The blonde next to him, who appeared to be similar in age (early thirties or so), seemed to think of something. She looked down at her blue dress, and then back to the Hatter. "Why is a raven like a writing desk, Hatter?"

He then looked to the blonde as a curious expression fell on his face. "Now, that's a silly thing to ask. What makes you think of such a bizarre question?"

She met his eyes. "You don't remember? It was a riddle you asked a long time ago… And you never told me the correct answer."

The man paused, and stared off blankly his eyes wandering to the ground as he thought deeply. "Well, I suppose it could be because it can produce a few notes, though they are very flat. And it is nevar put with the wrong end in front." He concluded with a nod. He then seemed taken back. "Or perhaps it is because the notes they are noted for are not noted for being musical notes?" He shrugged off the question, quickly losing interest in the subject.

Soon, a young girl with red hair (that matched the Hatter's), green eyes, and a red hat upon her head ran up. "Can I see my little sister yet, Daddy?" The young girl smiled widely as she looked up at him. He looked to Alice, and she nodded. He kneeled down in front of her. "Be very careful…" He gently handed her to the girl, and used a hand to support the baby's weight. He knew it would be too much for the child, despite the infant's light weight. "She's your sister, Alice. You need to always take care of her. Do you understand, dear?" She gave him a slow nod, then smiled down at her sibling. "Hey, Alice! We're going to be the best of friends! We can have tea parties together, and play in the woods with the Cheshire Cat and April and May Hares!" She exclaimed. But, in her small and quick-worded rambling, she began to struggle to hold her up. The Hatter then decided it would be time to hand the infant back to its mother.

Alice smiled down at the infant, and cradled her softly. Her gaze the averted to the messy tea table, with damaged china and silverware. It was all mixed and matched, and looked very unkempt. Just as she always remembered it. However, something else caught her eye, off in the distance. Over the trees, there was a large plume of smoke in the direction of a nearby town. The Hatter noticed her looking out of the window with a worried look, and looked himself. He walked over, adopting the same look, and peered around, noticing more pillars, rising up in the distance. Fires, big ones. And lots of them. "W-what's going on, Hatter?" Alice asked nervously.

"… A war…"
