He smiles when he enters the 12th Precinct today. He smiles, because he has hope. He still has hope. Even if she left him last night.

The coffee in his hands is still hot as he enters the bullpen. Ryan and Esposito seeing him coming.

"Hey Bro, you're late today. Missed the body at the crime scene." Espo says.

"Yeah, did you wrote through the night?" Ryan asked curious, because he can't imagine any other reason Castle missing to come here with his wife.

Castle is still just smiling. Not showing how his heart is breaking again. A little bit more. If this is even possible.

Because last night his wife left him. He still doesn't know why. He does still not believe she could've left him just like she did. She said she loved him. So very much. But nonetheless she left him. Crying in the floor in front of his loft. Oh yes, he heard her. And he wanted to believe that she'll just turn around and comes back to him.

But she didn't. It really happened.

Last night he had to sleep alone again after so many nights as husband and wife in his bed. Their bed. Probably that's still the problem. Her thinking she doesn't fit in their life.

He can't understand why. But he's determined to figure it out. He can't just stop loving her. He can't just stop believing in their story.

So he waltzes into the bullpen, already catching attention. But he doesn't care. He has a plan. At least he has with this coffee. After giving her it he not really knows yet what's to come. But he'll figure it out. Just like always.

And the case is giving him a new opportunity to his non-existent plan.

"There's been a murder?!" he almost shrieks. The boys just looks at him as if he's crazy. Like no way he couldn't knew it.

He sees their faces turning into questions. He ignores them. Shows with the coffee in the direction of Beckett's office.

Beckett's office. Captain Kate Beckett. He still can't believe that either. He finally liked Gates and now she's gone. His wife is now the Captain of this Precinct. Of their home. He couldn't be more proud.

He doesn't knock when he's getting into her office.

"Did the rules left with Captain Gates?" she's asking kind of pissed off, because how could someone not knock?!

Until she lifts her head up and recognizes the man who's standing in the door. The one she loves the most in the world. The one she left yesterday. For his own good. As she tells herself.

"What are you doing here?" Beckett asks calmly. Trying to hide any emotion. Because one time the decision to cut him off her life was hard enough. She doesn't want to do it again.

"I've brought you coffee" he answers lightheartedly. As nothing ever happened.

"And I heard there's a new murder. So what's our next step?"

"Our next step?" she's glancing at him. Can't believe he acts like nothing happened. "There is no next step for you. You're not working on this case."

"So you're shutting me out of the Precinct, too?"

His voice breaks at too. It's the reminder for himself what happened last night.

Kate rubs the back of her nose. She's getting a headache- hiding all the feelings which are flooding her body right now. She loves him. But she can't. She can't let him get in the way of this. She just can't loose him.

"Yes." She stops. Inhales deep and continues still with a shuttered voice "please leave now. And do not come back. I'll come to you." And after a long pause she adds "if you still want me then."

Now a tear is rolling down her cheek. Again. She didn't counted them the last 12 hours. Only 12 hours and she's already so heartbroken that she hardly believe everything will eventually be fine again. With him. And in her life.
