Hello Everyone I am TheBlueTeapot. I am a huge Ninja Turtle fan, I have seen all five movies, and various cartoon series with the 2k3 being my absolute favorite. One day I was having an argument with my dad about the Turtles. I don't know about the rest of you, but I consider the Ninja Turtles to be superheroes, just like any of the Marvel or DC superheroes. But of course they are the best and dear to everyone's heart because they are a totally different kind of superhero. That's what inspired this fanfic. I thought about what the turtles lives would be like if they were beloved superheroes. Although if you are expecting a lot of action... this is not for you. I like to write about relationships and real life situations. I hope you enjoy the first chapter of Save Me from Myself.
Summary
Leonardo looked at the women who had wrapped herself in a blanket, hiding from the world. "Depression is such a hard thing to deal with." She said her voice no louder than a whisper. Leonardo pulled the covers away from her body and brought her little body up to him. He ran a hand through her strawberry blond hair. "Then let me save you." He whispered to her sending chills up her spine. Leonardo brushed his lips on hers seeing if she would accept his offer. She pressed her lips to his in a burst of passion, the kiss lasted minutes. When they both went up for air the girl whispered to him again, "How can you save me from myself?"
The twilight of night had painted the sky in a strange mix of golds, blues, and pinks. The sun was just beginning to set over the western horizon, not that it could be seen over the massive steel and concrete buildings that housed most of the residents of the giant metropolis. A large man sat leaning beneath a large oak tree in the middle of Central Park. He wore a brown leather jacket, a tattered pair of light denim jeans and had a fedora covering his face. In between his hands was a worn paperback book titled, The Odyssey.
There was something off, about the man. It was not the fact that as he read, he was humming to himself one of the songs stuck in his head. Nor was it that the man was reading in the park at such a peculiar time of day. It also did not seem strange that for a large man all of his movements were graceful, from the simple turning of the pages to the way he was holding the book in his hands. The odd thing about the man would have to be the fact that he only had two fingers and a thumb on both hands and that they were an apple green.
None of the passersby seemed to notice the strange man, and for those who did none seemed to question it. Maybe it was because the man beneath the tree was not an unusual sight to the citizens of New York. The man was a bit of a celebrity, but who wouldn't be when he had stopped a terrorist organization, known as the Foot, from wiping out New York and most of the Eastern seaboard.
The man was a bit of a hero. He had a Medal of Honor, awarded to him when he was just seventeen years old, and a Nobel Peace Prize for finding a cure for world hunger. The man had other merits; He was an excellent leader, he had gone into battle a few times and lead very successful armies in the name of peace, he was a bit of an investor, all the businesses he had given start up money to had made him a very wealthy man, and he had been named 2014's most eligible bachelor by several magazines. Apparently when you had the resume he had, the fact that he was a 6'1" mutant turtle had been extremely over looked.
Leonardo Hamato did not care about all the awards and honors, he did everything because he felt it was the right thing to do. His father had taught his bothers and himself that with humility, honor, strength and teamwork there was nothing that they could not do. Leonardo was very happy with how is life had turned out, but he did not forget where he had started. He would always be a ninja who protected the innocent from harm.
Leonardo stretched and rose from his spot beneath the tree. He placed his book in one of his many large pockets on his brown leather jacket and zipped it up to fight off the brisk late night chill. Then he went on his way down the little cobble stone path in front of him, shoving his hands in his pockets. As he walked Leonardo admired the scenery of Central Park as the night had blanketed it in blackness. Leonardo did not mind though, the darkness was his friend.
Leonardo hummed one of the songs stuck in his head, "The Mighty Fall" by Fall Out Boy had become one of his favorites. His steps seemed to match the beat, not that he cared. The cobblestone path was empty. Leonardo checked his watch it was about a quarter to seven. He was surprised he had been in the park for that long, but he had enjoyed the solitude, his family had been getting on his nerves lately.
The Hamato clan had taken to being accepted in society at first with caution, but as years had come and gone they had embraced their status as celebrities. It had irked Leonardo to a degree, but he was glad his family was happy and living a life of comfort. It didn't mean that he couldn't find their various activities annoying.
Donatello had fallen in love with a perky redheaded artist by the name of Staci Douglas. The genius turtle had popped the question to Staci and she had said yes, at the moment the couple was going through the deliriously happy phase of their engagement. It was getting on everyone's nerves.
Michelangelo was currently trying to create a screenplay. He said it was his life calling to become a famous actor/director/producer. This had been his fifth or six life calling. At the moment the family was waiting for the youngest to get bored of what he was doing and find a new life calling. But that wasn't what was annoying Leonardo. Michelangelo was still trying to pursue a tall leggy blond by the name of Ella Levine. The forty-two year old FBI agent in charge of keeping tabs on the turtles for national security purposes.
Raphael was the largest thorn in his side at the moment, but that wasn't anything new. The hothead had taken to relationships with humans more quickly than the others. He had indulged humans on their various kinks, even if it involved being with a mutant. He was currently juggling time between three girls. When asked about his polyamorous lifestyle, Raphael had said, "Life is too short for just one pussy."
If Leonardo had to admit it, he would have to say that he was lonely. He had plenty of women offer to show him a good time, and a few of them he had accepted their offer. Leonardo even had expressed his desire for something more with them, but most girls just wanted flings. The usually tranquil turtle was feeling a lot of unease lately. He did have his family, and it used to be enough for him. What bothered him the most was that even his father had found companionship in a lovely older Japanese woman named Yuri. He was starting to feel very alone in the world.
Leonardo was very absorbed in his thoughts, that he almost didn't notice something tiny bump into his giant form. He looked over his shoulder and was very surprised at not what ran into him, but who. A little boy, probably no older than three stood behind the turtle. His little eyes were filled with a mix of wonderment and fear as he took in Leonardo's appearance.
Leonardo turned his body to the boy and crossed his arms, a puzzled look crossing his features. It wasn't an uncommon sight to see abandoned children in the park, but something about the toddler screamed that he was lost. The little boy was about two feet tall. He had curly blond hair which stuck up from his head in little spirals. Even in the darkness of the park, Leonardo could see that his eyes were blue. The little boy had on a dark blue jacket, which was on backwards and not even zipped up. Underneath the jacket was a pair of dinosaur footy pajamas. The toddler had on no shoes or a hat, which explained the bright red flush on his cherub cheeks, but he did have a Paw Patrol backpack strapped tightly to his back and a little green blanket clutched firmly in his hands.
"Where's your mommy and daddy?" Leonardo asked the boy in a soft voice.
The toddler shook his head.
Leonardo began to take off his jacket, reveling a white t-shirt underneath. He got on his knees and tried to hand the toddler his jacket, only to have the little boy shake his head again. Leonardo was becoming more and more confused at the situation, it was obvious from the boy's shaking little body that he was cold.
Leonardo handed the toddler his jacket again, only to have it pushed away, but this time words came out of the little boy's mouth. "No time."
Leonardo was completely flabbergasted. He was trying help the toddler, but he was starting to become very stubborn. The little boy proving Leonardo's point further when he tried to continue on his way, like there wasn't a giant turtle in front of him. Leonardo reached out and grabbed the toddler lightly by his arm. The toddler did not like this and let out a cry in anger toward the turtle.
"No." The toddler whined, "Help Papa."
"Help Papa, what?" Asked Leonardo. "What is wrong with Papa?"
The little boy looked up at Leonardo with tears in his eyes and again shook his head. "Me help Papa." His tiny voice sounded miserable.
"I can help you." Leonardo told the little boy. Trying his best to offer a reassuring smile. "Tell me where Papa is."
Again the toddler shook his head. The little boy was really starting to test Leonardo's patience which he prided himself on having a lot of.
Leonardo let go of the little boys arm, but used his large body to block the boy from leaving.
"I'm a friend." Leonardo said, pulling his coat back into the toddlers reach making sure a certain mask was sticking out of a pocket.
The little boy took the bait, and pulled a blue mask out of one of the large pockets in the jacket. It was a blue silk bandana with two eye holes cut into it.
Little boys had always thought Leonardo and his brother were superheroes. They had often dressed in costumes that resembled the turtles and often tried to show their ninja moves to the Hamato clan. What shocked Leonardo was that the little boy made a noise and he sounded unimpressed. Leonardo let out a chuckle, this little boy was different and he liked him.
The little boy placed the bandana into Leonardo's hands, he begun to shrug off his backpack. The little boy made quick work of getting the bag off, and placed it on the ground. He was having a hard time with the bags zipper. He looked up at Leonardo and said "Help."
Leonardo made no time of the little zipper, and had the bag open. The toddler began to sift through the backpack. The little boy let out a triumphant smile and pulled out a little blue wallet. He handed Leonardo the wallet.
"Open."
Leonardo did what the little boy told him and opened the wallet. The little boy nestled himself between Leonardo's plastron and the little wallet. His little eyes were searching for something. He reached out a little hand and pointed to a picture in the wallet.
It was of a girl, no older than eighteen. She had long light strawberry blonde hair. She had a diamond shaped face with rosy cheeks, a button nose and blue hazel eyes. Leonardo felt his breath hitch and his heart stop. Leonardo had seen a lot of beautiful women, models often liked a man with money, but this girl had a beauty that was natural. Leonardo tried to shake away the thoughts he was having but he couldn't help getting lost in that dazzling smile of hers.
The little boy pointed at the picture. "Nay help." He said.
Leonardo looked at the picture curiously, he took it out of the wallet and flipped it over to the back. On the back was a name.
Renay Walts
Leonardo also found a phone number. He pulled out his cell phone and began to dial the number. He waited as the phone rang and rang. Finally an answer.
"Hello."
It was a man's voice. It left Leonardo confused. He had expected a female to answer on the other line.
"Is Renay there?" Leonardo asked.
The voice on the other end did not answer him, but he did hear another voice.
"Renay who's calling you?" The male voice demanded.
Leonardo heard a very audible sigh. "I don't know Tony. Why don't you hand me the phone and I'll find out."
The voice sounded angelic, and Leonardo felt his heart start up again.
He heard the man growl. "Guys shouldn't be calling you sweetheart, I thought we already had that talk."
"And I thought I told you to shut the fuck up." The women snapped.
The line was quiet for a second.
"Hello?" The angelic voice asked.
"Um…Hello." Leonardo felt at a loss at what to say.
"Who is this?"
"My name is Leo and I believe I have a friend of yours here."
The voice sounded a bit annoyed. "Listen, Leo if you're trying to pull something…"
Leonardo let out a long sigh. "I'm not trying to pull anything. There is a little boy here and I think he knows you."
The girl still did not sound pleased. "If that's what you call it, I can assure you I don't want it."
Leonardo was becoming increasingly frustrated. Before he could say anything the little boy decided to help him out.
"It okay Nay." The little boy said loud enough for the girl to hear. "Tur dle help Ben."
The girls tone did a complete 180 from annoyed and angry to concerned and confused. She began to ramble off questions.
"Where did you find him? Is he okay? Did you hurt him? I swear if you hurt him…. Wait did he say turtle?"
Leonardo began to answer the girl's questions. "I found him in central Park. Other than being a little cold he seems to be fine. I promise I did not hurt him and yes he did say turtle."
"I'll be there soon." Was the girl's answer.
"Wait a second!" Leonardo almost shouted. "It's cold and Ben is freezing."
Leonardo looked at the little boy and he shook his head in agreement. "Couldn't we meet somewhere?"
"Yes." She answered very timidly.
Leonardo racked his brain on where to meet the girl, obviously she sounded very distrustful and it was unlikely she was going to give out her address. That didn't mean he couldn't give out his.
"Could you meet me at the Hamato estate, on the corner of Eastman and Laird?"
He could hear the smirk on the girls face when she said. "Oh, you're that turtle."
He gave back a smirk of his own. "Yes I am."
Renay Walts ended the call and placed her iphone on the table. She ran her fingers through her hair. Life was becoming a little frustrating for her as of late and the fact Ben was in the middle of central park with none other than Leonardo Hamato was not making it any easier. The young woman opened up a drawer in the end table she had just placed her phone and began to short through it.
In her little hands she held a pack of Camel Turkish Royals, her favorite kind of cigarettes. She then searched for a lighter, when she found one she smiled. Then she took her findings and flung herself on a large black sofa in a huff. Renay pulled an ashtray close to her and pulled out a cigarette from the pack. She rolled it over in the fingers of her right hand a few times then brought in up to her nose and smelled it.
Renay loved the smell of tobacco, it reminded her of home. Growing up in a small town in the middle of Ohio it used to be common for people to smoke. Even when it became unhealthy and everyone pushed to stop smoking everywhere… her parents never quit. The smell of a cigarette was as relaxing as lavender candles.
The young women brought the cigarette to her lips and had the lighter in her hand ready to set fire to the tip. Renay wanted to feel a stream of smoke go into her mouth as she exhaled before it made its way into her lungs, but then she decided against it. She hardly smoked a fact that could be proven true by the almost full pack on the table with only two cigarettes missing and the band new ashtray in front of her. Renay put the lighter beside the ashtray on the coffee table and brought the cigarette from her lips back to lay underneath her nose to smell the fragrant tobacco.
After a few moments a man appeared. Renay saw him out of the corner of her eye. He was a tall man to her but he was of average height at 5'10". His hair was cut in a military fashion, high and tight, it was a soft shade of brown. His eyes were a dark gray which at the moment were filled with jealously and rage. He had a hard face with a strong jaw and a rather large nose, with a pinkish scar that sliced into his left cheek. He was also very muscular, with his arms crossed every muscle was bulging out of his arms.
Renay pretended he did not exist as she continued to relax. She closed her eyes and threw her head back.
"Who was that?" The man asked clearly angry.
Renay gave no answer.
His footsteps were heavy as he crossed the room to her.
Thump
Thump
Thump
When he crossed the room he sat himself down on the sofa and put one of his arms around her.
"Who was that on the phone, sweetheart?" He asked again rubbing his arm up in down her arm in a comforting fashion.
Renay still did not answer.
The man took his other hand and grabbed her face squeezing her cheeks together making her lips pucker. Renay's eyes opened wide. Her blue hazel eyes met a pair of angry greys.
His voice was low and threatening. "I won't ask you again bitch…Who was the bastard who called you."
The grip on her face was beginning to tighten and she could feel tears forming in her eyes. The man had also tightened the grip on her arm and was pulling her into his body. It was effortless for him because of Renay's tiny frame.
"Leonardo Hamato, he found Ben in the park." Renay said her voice hardly audible.
"You're lying to me." The man roared as he let go of her face only to bring the hand back and slap her across the face.
Renay brought of her tiny eyes up to rub her cheek. She knew no bruise would form. Tony never wanted people to find evidence.
"I'm not lying." Renay squeaked out. "I promise Tony."
Tony seemed satisfied with her answer and brought her in for a deep kiss. After he decided to come up for air he looked at her lovingly and began to stroke her hair.
"You know I don't like hurting you."
Renay scoffed on the inside. Tony always said that after he beat her.
"Tony I have to go." Renay said quietly. "I have to go get Ben."
Tony let her get up of the couch.
Renay crossed the room and grabbed her black leather jacket from the hook. She opened the front door to leave but before she left Tony called out to her.
She looked back at him. "Yes, Tony?" she asked quietly.
Her answer was a shake of the head and a statement he said almost as much as "You know I don't like hurting you."
"You spend too much time with those kids."
Renay only nodded and closed the door behind her.
