Chapter One

Disclaimer : Most or all of the characters in this story are NOT mine. I just happened to like this book and decided to write a fic.

"Malfoy!"

"Potter!"

Harry took a menacing step towards Malfoy, wand in hand.

"Harry! Stop!" Hermione stepped in between Harry and Draco, arms out. Draco smirked, lowering his wand.

"Lucky you have this filthy mudblood to save you, Potter!" He practically spat out Harry's name. Harry stepped closer towards Draco, but Hermione grabbed his elbow.

"C'mon Harry." She turned on her heel and walked towards the Gryffindor common room. Draco smiled evilly as they walked away, turning on his own heel and walked down the hall.

"What were you thinking, Hermione? You know as well as I do that Malfoy would curse you the first chance he got!" Harry hissed at Hermione as he stepped through the portrait.

Hermione shrugged. "Harry, you know as well as I do that Snape will take any excuse to expel you as soon as you so much as poke Malfoy."

Harry rolled his eyes. "Snape can't do anything so long as Dumbledore's here."

"Maybe so, but you shouldn't try your luck. Your potions mark isn't so great." Hermione glared at Harry expectantly.

"My mark has nothing to do with what we're talking about. Why don't you go work on yours." The moment Harry said this, he regretted it.

Hermione glared. "Fine. I will." Stomping past Harry, she marched madly up the stairs.

Ron stood up. Harry hadn't even seen him in one of the chairs by the fire. "That wasn't nice, Harry." He said, laughing. He walked up to Harry. "So, have you got a date to the Yule Ball yet?"

Harry shook his head. "Nah. Don't know if I want one either."

Ron grinned. "You should ask her, you know."

Harry was taken aback. "What? Hermione?"

Ron laughed. "Yes Harry, Hermione. Can't you tell? She likes you, Harry. You're all she ever talks about." Harry laughed when he heard this.

"Only me, what about school work, classes, and homework?"

Ron laughed as well. "Well, I thought those didn't have to be included. They're pretty standard when it comes to Hermione."

Harry shook his head. "Nah, I think I'll ask Cho." His mind wandered to their kiss.

Ron rolled his eyes. "Give it up, Harry, she's moved on. I heard she's going out with someone now."

Harry couldn't help but wonder. "Who?"

Ron shrugged. "I don't know. Think about it Harry. Ask Hermione."

Harry shrugged in return. "I don't know, I'll think about it." He sighed. "Anyway. I think I'll do that Divination homework now, have you started?" The two boys sat down around their books, using their imaginations to comlete their homework.

Anyway, that's it. Review it please. Personally, I don't think it's very good yet, but I have all these plans for it, so. Hopefully I'll have the next chapter up soon.
