Extreme Measure

AN: Well, I've been away for a while. Having moved away to Uni and found no Internet connection in the flat I have found it difficult to keep my writing going. But here is a new fic that I just completed. It came to me as a quick flash of inspiration and joins my "The Ordeal" trilogy as not entirely pleasant. It is kind of an experiment in using sound in my fics but isn't indicative of what is to come. I hope to return to my usual AAMRN once I have got back into the swing of things.
Please understand that this fic isn't for kids.
It follows on from a theoretical discussion between Ash and Misty where Misty tells Ash that she doesn't love him.
SLAM
She doesn't love me. Ash thought as he closed the door behind him.
CLICK
Never did. His mind told him as he locked the door.
TWIST
Never could. He thought to himself as he turned the sink tap on.
SPLASH
Why did I think she would? Ash wondered as the warm water filled the basin.
TWIST
I was so sure of it. The thoughts told him while he turned the tap off.
CUT
I was naive. His inner voice was saying while he drew the knife blade over his wrists.
DRIP
She could never love me, a nobody. The words that formed inside him said as the first drops of blood fell into the water.
SPLASH
She wants and deserves so much more. The blood began to flow as he plunged his wrists into the full basin and his mind continued talking.
TICK
This is for the best. He told himself, letting his remaining time pass by.
TOCK
I hope she finds someone. He thought as he felt himself begin to slip away.
