Dying Wish
"Father!" The three-year-old Neji Hyuga screamed.
The man he was addressing was curled in a ball holding his head and screaming in pain. The pain was stemming from the 'caged bird' curse seal on his forehead activated via his uncle Hiashi Hyuga, who was standing over the writhing body below him. The curse seal, when activated, slowly and quite painfully demolished the brain cells of the bearer.
"Neji, my son you must live. You alone are the one who holds the purest form of our clans bloodline limit. Do not let this discourage you…..you have to…..define…..your own….." The man never did finish his sentence and the meaning was left unclear to the boy who sat beside him.
"Father! Don't go! Don't leave please stay Father!" Neji screamed tears forming in his eyes only to leak out and fall to the floor. Why? Why did this always happen to him? First his mother, Mia Hyuga, and now his father! What has he ever done to diserve such a harsh punishment?
A man came up and removed Neji from the corpse to take him to the burial grounds of the Hyuga clan. As he passed Neji once more he looked down at the sobbing boy sympathetically.
12 Years Later
Neji Hyuga is now 15 and he stands at the gravesite of his father, scroll in hand. "Father I want to apologize for not living as you wished me too. I finally see what you had done, you chose death because you wanted to chose your own fate. I finally know what you had meant to say those many years ago." He whispered.
"I hate the main branch for what they did to you! I am sorry to say that but I can't stop hating them. You once told me that a caged bird tries desperately to pick the lock to his cage with its beak but fails many times, though it never gives up because it wants to soar again. I only hope that I will be able to fly like you did." The young man said looking at the inscription on the marker. ' Never give up, for one day you too will soar.'
He laid a single lilli on the top of the marker. He stared for moments longer, his pearl white eyes lingering on the inscription. Then he turned, wiping strands of his raven hair out of his eys and walked away. A smile played on his lips because he now knew he would ssoar again even if it was only in death, a lesson his father wanted him to learn.
As his dying wish.
