BELIEVE IN MIRACLES
6:30 am Thursday morning and Ianto stepped in through the roller door looking haggard and happy at the same time. His Captain watched from the window of his office wondering why his normally immaculate lover was looking like he'd stepped out of a motorway pile up with a smile plastered across his young face. It fleetingly crossed his mind that Ianto was in shock as he raced at lightening speed down into the main area of the Hub to greet him. On much closer inspection the battered looking Welshman looked like his was positively glowing with joy and Jack froze a couple of paces distant and stretched out his hand.
"Ianto?"
Ianto beamed at him through his blood streaked face, eyes shining like lanterns.
"Jack!" He flung himself into Jack's arms and hugged him so tightly Jack thought his ribs might actually break. He encircled the younger man in his strong arms and kissed his head as Ianto nuzzled his neck in apparent content.
"Ianto are you OK?"
"Uhm. Happy to see you."
Jack's worries weren't even slightly allayed. "What happened Yan? Are you hurt?"
Ianto jumped back in surprise as if realising for the first time the state that he was in, he looked down at his blood stained clothes, absent tie and ripped shirt front.
"I'm fine, not my blood. My neighbour Sara. She er... she had a baby Jack. On my living room couch. She had a baby!"
Jack gaped at him completely misunderstanding. "You've been shagging Sara, all this time?"
"What? Oh God Jack! Don't be an ass, of course not. Her husband is in Iraq. She banged on my door at 2 am this morning having called for an ambulance. Said ambulance took three hours to arrive so I rang Owen and we delivered her baby. It was amazing Jack, this tiny little....Oh God." Tears were streaming down Ianto's face.
Jack was smiling madly now. "You've just come from the hospital?"
Ianto nodded. "We took her in my car, then I came here. Jack he's beautiful. It was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. They've got this cute little boy, Owen Ianto Taylor."
Jack pulled him into another hug. "Owen Ianto Taylor?"
Ianto nestled against him. "It was wonderful Jack, to see a new life coming into the world when we see so much death."
Jack just squeezed him a little tighter. "You know what's better?"
"What?"
"Seeing you with so much light in your eyes. It's what I love about you, always able to live the moments that are thrown at you. What a perfect start to the day. Thank you."
They looked at each other for a long silent moment then drew together meeting with a long and very passionate kiss. The need to breathe drew them apart.
"Why are you thanking me?"
"Because you came here and told me, shared your happiness. You and I have seen so much pain and we've helped each other through it each time, but this is like a gift, to see you happy."
Ianto was lost for words but finally he found them.
"You're my gift Jack, a constant miracle in my life. Now for fear of getting too sentimental on you, I need a shower."
There was a rueful grin on both their faces. "Do I get to have one too?"
"I'm counting on it!"
"Owen Ianto Taylor, yeah I like the sound of that!"
"I think his dad will get a bit of a shock, they were supposed to be calling him Stewart!"
