June 2016

Years earlier, if you had asked members of New Directions which couple from among their numbers would be the first to marry, there would have been a four way tie between Finchel, Klaine, Brittana and Tike.

Now, at the first wedding withing their circle of friends, they were proven wrong. True, Brittany and Santana were still together (again), as were Mike and Tina, but Finn and Rachel had long since parted ways and she had been with Puck for 2 years. Kurt and Blaine had tried to recapture their teenage romance when Blaine moved to New York, but it fizzled out before two months had passed.

None of the younger members of ND were shocked when Blaine and Sam started dating around Christmas, were head over heels by Valentine's and engaged before Thanksgiving of their sophomore year at college. Frankly, everyone was stunned that they managed to wait until after their junior year to marry.

The ceremony was held on a warm June day in the Hamptons, at the estate ofBoris Kuester von Jurgens-Ratenicz, a friend of Blaine's father. For the occasion, Artie had gotten himself ordained as a minister via a website (all the official paperwork had been completed at city hall before they left NYC, so that was largely ceramonial) in order to officiate (Santana had offered, but both Blaine and Sam had feared what she might say…some people didn't understand that she used sarcasm and snark as affection toward anyone who wasn't Brittany). Tina was acting as Blaine's Best Person and Brittany stood up by Sam, while little Marie Schuester was the flower girl/ring bearer.

When vows, rings and kisses were exchanged, a cheer rose up from their friends and family and Brittany placed a crown of flowers on Sam's head (an unplanned, unexplained gesture, but Sam thought the wreath was lovely, so he just went with it).

No, years ago, no one would have predicted a Blam wedding, but no one could deny they were perfect for each other as Blaine and Sam stood together, smiling and incandescently in love.
