Disclaimer: I love Stone of Tymora, but I don't own it.

Maimun's Treasure

I have been on and off the sea, through towns and cities that I have never been to before, and have been stalked by people and monsters alike. Even since I have been traveling with Perrault, I have always wanted to find a more permanent home. Somewhere I wouldn't be hunted any more, somewhere I could feel safe and live happily like a normal person.

This is what I always thought when I traveled with my guardian, Perrault, but I then realized that the life of being on a ship was more precious than I first thought it was. I didn't like sailing on the Sea Sprite when I first got on it, but now that I am welcome on board despite having been a stowaway the first time, I felt the awakening sense of adventure with the sea spray rising to meet the wooden deck, and the stars light up the entire sky. The creaking of the ship reminded that the only thing between us and miles and miles down the ocean water was, compared to the size of the world and the sea itself, a small boat.

I will always treasure my time with Lucky and Tin, for we have become close friends over the years. The times when we would play games and gamble chores, to the times when they would make me laugh. Lucky always accused Tin of being as dumb as a, well, tin can, but he is a lot smarter than anyone gives him credit for. The captain of the Sea Sprite, Deurdermont, is a great leader. The crew members look to him for orders and support, and he delivers. I can't imagine being a leader like him and having the responsibility to protect so many people!

And Joan… The stubborn pirate girl who I know really loves being on the rolling blue waters of the sea, will always be a close friend of mine. Let me just say, that her love of setting out for such an adventure might have rubbed off to me, whether she knows that or not, she has shown me love for the never-ending rocking of the ship, and the captain's voice calling out orders.

This may, in real life, never be as like in stories, with disastrous pirates stealing gold and jewels until a noble hero takes it back. But this is what those stories are built upon, and I am living that life! I still do not like the thought of being chased, and would prefer not to die by demons, and sometimes I still dream of finding a home to settle down in, but this life of adventure on board the Sea Sprite is a special memory. One that I will always remember. –Maimun

Author's note: Thank you for reading, and if anything, I hope this makes you want to go back and read the book as I want to! This is a small story that I wrote because of a 180 Writing Prompt challenge I'm having with Irene T447. She writes for the Zelda series, and is a really awesome writer, go check her out! This was based on question 1: Deck hand or Librarian, 180 Writing Prompts on Tumblr.
