"I'm in love with you," Adam says simply. "And you're still hanging on to your ex-boyfriend-"

"I'm not-" Kurt tries to interrupt and Adam can see that he means it, that he honestly believes it. But Adam can see it, he's always been able to read Kurt from the beginning and Adam knows him too well to kid himself.

"I'm not saying you're in love with him," Adam says quickly, holding up his hands. "But I'm saying that you still think of him when we're together, comparing everything…"

Kurt's face crumples and Adam does that stupid thing where he falls just a bit more in love with him.

"Adam…" Kurt murmurs but Adam doesn't let up and keeps talking.

"Even comparing me to him and…" Adam takes a shaky breath to keep himself from doing something embarrassing like cry. "That really fucking hurts-"

"I did do that," Kurt interrupts and there's urgency in his voice that wasn't there before. "On our first date, on our second date, that time we walked around central park even though that really wasn't a date-"

"I get your point," Adams sharply, trying to hide the surprise and hurt he feels at Kurt's unexpected words. He'd thought Kurt would've denied it because he or at least Adam thought he hadn't meant to.

"No you don't," Kurt says, frustration leaking into his tone. "I did that and every time you came out on top until I realised that this is nothing like Blaine and me. You make me happy and nothing can compare to that, I should never have tried to at all, I'm just so scared at how new this is to me. I actually love you and I can't think of anything you could do to make that stop."

Adam can hear his heart beating loudly in his chest as he watches Kurt swallow.

"But I can think of so much I could do, to make you stop," Kurt finishes and his voice cracks on the last word.

Adam can't say anything, can't say anything at all that would cure all the insecurities brought on by a crappy high school experience.

He could tell Kurt everyday that he's close to perfect and that none of his flaws could convince Adam to leave but Kurt would never really believe him, not really.

But he can tell him that he loves him that he wants Kurt more than anything he's ever wanted. That ever since he saw him he knew that Kurt was special and that nothing can take that away.

And he will, every single day if that's what it takes.
