Vampire Knight
If I Am Strong
Fanfiction
"Stop, stop! I changed my mind!"
"Get away from him, you damn Pureblood!"
"Mom, please. Stop…," I wiped the tears from my eyes, ignored the bloodstains all over my PJs as I tried with all my might to ignore the piercing pain in my chest. I swallowed down the tears that threatened to fall, "Please, stop…I changed my mind. I'll be stronger. I promise. Just please…please, stop…"
A hand reached out, holding me close, a chin rested on top of my head. I could feel the blood seep through his shirt, though my PJs and onto my skin. It was warm. Oddly enough, the blood didn't phase me as it usually would, but I think the sick feeling that settled in the pit of my stomach was distracting me from it…
"It's okay," the voice whispered. "Everything will be okay…"
The tears welled up again…
"I'll be stronger. Just please…stop…"
She crouched down in front of me. The Pureblood that had blood all over her clothes and that dangerous red glint in her eyes. Her cold fingers reached out and touched my face, "…I thought you were like me…"
The head on top of mine, stood up and reached out for the woman's hand, "Enough. No more, please."
"Kill her! Kill her, now!" Mom was screaming in the background, yelling and lying on the floor beside my beloved sibling. Blood pooled around them, I had no idea just how much…
"No! No more killing," my father said. He pulled the woman into his arms, hugging her tightly. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I realize now that we've done something wrong…"
The woman just stared ahead, her bright red eyes meeting mine in a moment of shock and sadness. Her eyes never left mine. And I realized that our eyes were no longer the same, we weren't crying for the same reasons anymore.
"You'll be strong?" she whispered, "Strong enough?"
"Strong enough for all of us," I nodded, finally solidifying the promise I had made to myself all those years ago. I ran to my sibling and fell to the floor beside him, ignoring my mother's heated glare. I gathered him up in my arms, "Strong enough for both of us, did you hear me?"
"I heard you," he replied. He turned away from me, "I just can't trust you."
"I know," I hugged him close to me. "I'm so sorry. Please, please forgive me, Zero!"
Zero finally looked at me. Violet eyes meeting violet eyes, "Become strong and we'll talk, Ichiru."
