Just to clarify, I never wanted this to happen. After all it never should have happened.
But somehow it did.
When I met the Doctor for the first time as the Face Of Boe, it was supposed to be when he took Rose to see the earth get destroyed by its own sun. But as the Doctor has said on many occasions, 'time can be rewritten'.
I never really believed him, but now, I guess I do.
The Doctor smiled at her, telling her goodbye. Then he was alone again in his TARDIS, watching the monitor as Sarah Jane Smith watched him go.
I had never done this before. In all of my many, many years, I had gained several wonderful abilities, including ones of the psychic varieties. I'd long ago figured out how to put up a perception filter using my psychic powers, and that's exactly what I'd done to slip past the Doctor and onto the TARDIS. He had of course felt a slight breeze as I had moved, but that was all.
As soon as the ship had noticed me there, it had greeted me with a sort of mental hug, and then let me go my own way without letting the Doctor know anything.
How was I to know that the TARDIS didn't have to tell him anything, since he was already aware of everything? "Who's there?" He asked suddenly, walking in a circle, his eyes looking over every space in the console room. "I can sense someone in here, but who is it? It will only take a moment before I find the void in the space." A second later he was staring straight at me, and with a slight smile, I let the filter drop.
"Who are you?" He asked, wary and uncertain of what I might do. "Why is the TARDIS ignoring the fact that you're in here?"
"Because the TARDIS already knows me from the Future. It's nice to meet you… sort of." His face screamed with questions, but I moved on, not giving him a chance to speak. "You see, this was never meant to happen. We aren't meant to actually meet for several more years, but since time is always in flux and changing, I thought I'd drop by early. Even though you have never met me personally, you know me as the Face Of Boe."
He nodded, and I could see many of his questions disappear. "Alright, well then, what are you doing here?"
"Not much really, I've always just wondered what you were like in your younger days. Now listen, because I feel as though I must tell you several things before I depart from this place." I paused, and he motioned with his hand for me to go on. "One day, you and I will be friends. Good friends. But when that happens you will know my by a different face, a different name, and well… a different everything. And Doctor, I am so sorry. Because on the day that you meet me, a new chain of events will start. You will come to know a love, a hatred, and a sorrow the likes of which you have never experienced. But you must fight on, and please do not say anything of this encounter to anyone until you have seen me for what should have been your first time. On the last day that the Earth sees the sun."
With that, I left, and took myself to the hospital on New Earth.
