Innocence

Summary: What if Sasuke missed Itachi that night and never saw the clan get slaughtered before his eyes? It makes a whole world of difference. "My dream is to prove that my brother's innocence."

Prologue: Dreams

"My brother would never do this," a little boy whispered to himself clutching the rough fabric of the overlarge hospital gown. They're lying.

Lies. All lies.

He saw the bodies of his parents in a small pile in the middle of the same room that his brother used to play with him. He saw the bodies of his aunts, uncles, and cousins on the same streets that his brother used to chase him around.

The adults are trying to confuse him with lies. They won't.

"Sasuke-kun, now do you know anything about what your brother…"

"You have to tell us…"

"We can track down the murderer and avenge your clan…"

"Sasuke, don't you think your parents…"

How dare they assume that his brother did this. His brother was the pride and glory of their clan, their parents, and him.

He was kept in this cooped up chemical smelling place, forbidden to leave without escorts. He heard what they were saying on the streets.

"I heard that Sasuke doesn't believe…"

"Denial, that's what it is…"

"He's the survivor…"

"Sasuke will become a wild card one day…"

"He'll go crazy trying to avenge his clan…"

"That's understandable though…"

"After all…it was his brother…"

How dare they! He would love his brother no matter what! Especially since he didn't kill the clan!

I'll prove it to them one day…one day…

Uchiha Sasuke cuddled up against the pillow satisfied with his vow.

In his dreams, his brother was there and that was all that mattered.

A/N: Suddenly I'm working on so many projects. I'm quite confident about this since I like the idea. Of course, it's not that well rounded. We'll just see where this goes.
