She had never felt this way before. Her heart filled with warmth whenever she looked into his glowing, soft gray eyes. A blush covered her cheeks, and her heart fluttered with happiness. Yet all her life, she had never felt this way before. All her life she had only felt anger, hate, rage. Nothing like this. No one had ever made her feel like this before. No one. Only him. She waited, every morning, in anticipation, waited for him, just so she could see his beautiful face. And then, when she gave him that shy smile, his response was so blinding, so brilliant. It warmed her heart, filled her day with happiness. Her heart nearly broke when she saw him with other girls, girls who flirted with him, hoping to make him their own. And that's when she realized that she wanted to have him all for herself. The thought annoyed her, but still, he was so beautiful, so wonderful. She didn't care if he wore black, dark make-up, and had a nose piercing. He was still the greatest person she had ever met. She almost died every time he was gone. And then she began to wonder: what was this strange feeling? She became quite curious, studying numerous books on human feelings. Yet nothing seemed to truly explain the way she felt. It dawned on her that maybe, just maybe, there were other ways to find out what the feeling was. So she asked him to the dance. He agreed, much to her delight. She could sense the other girls' disappointment, but didn't care. She felt as if she was walking on the clouds and her head was filled with stars. She could hardly breathe that night as she checked herself over in the mirror. Her long red hair was pinned up, her short black dress fit neatly on her. And then she saw him. His black, messy hair hung in his eyes, wearing ripped jeans and a black shirt with a dark jacket. She felt a blush cover her cheeks as he approached her. As they went into the darkened gym, he took her hand and pulled her into his arms. As the music played, she knew this was the moment. She told him about her feelings, everything she felt around him.
"What's this feeling?" she asked quietly, waiting for his answer. He smiled down at her.
"I love you, too." was all he said, and she knew her question had been answered.
