What's your name. | Ciel. | Ciel Phantomhive. | The one who will inherit the house of Earl Phantomhive. | I see. That'll be fine then. | Then I should take a form suitable of being in service to an Earl.

【What's Your Name】

WHIRRRRRRRR. Sebastian's cinematic record begins to unreel, a scene plays out, revealing the moment when the demon grasped onto the frail hand of a being reaching out from the earthbound world. As its surroundings dissolved, the hand seized belonged to that of a mortal child.

"What's your name," said the demon, with a soft and benign smile.

"I don't know," said the child, ruminating for a response, "I am unable to recall at this time.

A moment of silence filled the air. The demon looked around the room, observing the aftereffects of his summoning. Once, a lively affair of sacrificed children with cultic intones of Latin resonating amongst its spectators. Now, a silenced pit of death. The demon draws his attention back onto the child, whom is staring vacantly beyond the tiers.

"Ahem. I understand if you are unable to recall your own name at this time. I needn't known any of theirs; however, as you have summoned me, a name is—"

"Ciel," interrupted the child.

"Ciel?"

"Yes."

"Phffftt. You must be joking," the demon now amused by the child, "surely there is your birth name or something more creative than naming oneself after the ·upper interior of a chamber."

"That is my birth name," the child insisted.

"·Heavens, how awful if it were to be true."

"Listen here, demon," the child scowled, "I am Ciel. Ciel Phatomhive. The one who will inherit the house of Earl Phantomhive."

The demon mused by the child, takes a bow, grins a devilishly, wide grin across.

"Very well. Now then young ·noble, I shall take on a form most fitting to your needs as a member of nobility, as well a physique for your study in juvenescence" the demon bows formally as it metamorphoses from behind the shadows, stepping into the light a ·statuesque being.

The child frowned with distaste of the figure that appeared before him.

"No, this won't do. If you are to be my servant, than you are to be a butler," the child chided.

"Surely, you'll need me to be of a fine example for what adolescence brings fourth, if I'm not mistaken?"

"I have no interest in your depravity, demon. I demand a butler!"

"Very well then young ·noble" the demon wily smiled and reappeared before the child in the form of an attractive, young man servant. Surely, I would have made one hell of a maid.

END.

A/N This piece puns around Ciel's name (which phonetically it sounds as the word ceil, as part of a ceiling; also, the French–English translation of the name is sky/heaven) where Sebatian ambigiously misinterprets the boy's name upon hearing it. Furthermore, this piece queries Ciel's sex based on Sebastian's transformation. Gender pronouns and the title Earl are never applied to Ciel.

I placed · (interpuncts) in the piece to emphasize these details.
