Goodbye is the hardest word

This is my first Suite Life fanfic so please be nice and kudos to anyone who gets the Elton John song and the Series of Unfortunate events book references! And a huge thanks to Twilight Archangel for the inspiration!

Zack Martin felt ripped apart, a phrase which here means, "Something or someone precious taken from you without much warning." That someone was named Cody Martin. The way he and Zack were ripped apart was a disease called CHF, or compulseitory heart failure. He had been on the waiting list for a transplant, but he died before it came. As Zack stood in the graveyard, he remembered his last day with his twin brother.

Start flashback

-How long do I have if I don't get a transplant? - Cody had asked the heart doctor, Dr. Carrie. –Not long- Dr. Carrie answered. –only about 5 months. You should feel lucky. Most die within 2 or 3 months. - four months later, Cody was admitted to the hospital. About 4 weeks after that, he and zack were talking:

-zack, I know I don't have much time left. The transplant won't come soon enough to save me. - Cody said the night of July 8th, 2011. –How can you say that? - Zack answered, not believing what his brother had just said. – The transplant will come. I know it. You will live. You have to live. - Zack pleaded. But the look in Cody's eyes told him differently. That Death was knocking on the door. Cody's eyes were losing their light. –I love you, Cody- zack whispered. – I love you to, zack- Cody whispered, even more quietly than zack. Then Cody's eyes closed and the heart monitor flat lined. The grip on zack's hand loosened, and zack was left with the unthinkable realization that his brother, his twin, his other half, was gone forever. Zack wept over his brother's dead body all the rest of the night.

End flashback

Zack felt tears coming to his eyes, but why stop them? He felt them slide down his cheeks, warm and salty. He wiped them away, but more came. He made no sound as he cried at his brother's grave. He soon left with all of the rest the mourners. His mom and dad, Emma and Marion Moseby, London, Bailey, Maya, Woody, and Marcus. Then, out of the blue, his brother's last words came flouting out of his memory, I love you to, zack. He knew that they loved each other, and that was one thing that would never change.
